Since @Tricky Mike had already quit making them I bought the LOD ones which required modification to work with my Fab Fours bumper. BTW, the Fab Fours bumper has extra plates that attach under the frame to the intercooler mount locations which adds 4 extra bolts and spreads the load, but not at the top where the winch mounts, (turns out the tricky Mike ones would not have worked for my application) thus me adding the LOD brackets. I also flat tow our Bronco.

I am using a Turn Offroad plate so the placement of the winch is dead on with the frame horns and not raised like using a high mount.

The frame horns are still weak. Though your location is better than high which adds leverage to the equation.

For anyone else I now recommend getting the Metal Tech kit since I dropped out.

the CBI bumper I installed put the winch plate directly between the frame rails, vertically midway between the frame horn bolts. Pretty robust design regarding the frame, but I agree, still not strong enough. You are relying on very small welds and no gussetting.

Thanks for the suggestion. Looks like a good kit. Definitely worry about the stock frame mounts and winching
