I'm looking at adding the $5K PPF to my build but wasn't sure how to protect that investment from scratches. I was thinking protective molding or double-faced taping on pool noodles to the panels while off-roading. Not sure about the practicability of removing the doors and outer fenders constantly. Then I ran across this PPF padded protecter, looks amazing, does anyone know where I could purchase it?

You had me in the first half NGL

My PPF is “self healing” for minor scratches. It’s been abused (permanently scratched) by tight trails in Ozark and Ouachita National Forests - only thing that would have saved it is removing the panels entirely

you don’t see it unless I wash the vehicle

I don't.

PPF is tough. Many believe it is overkill for a rig like a Bronco. For me personally I use my rig a lot on the street but also wheel her hard in some significant sharp/prickly/scratchy desert terrain. Thus I opted for a full PPF. My PPF certainly doesn't need it's own protection. It's expensive, but unfortunately, also somewhat disposable. Even abused, it should last years and thus pay for itself. Don't over think it, less you'll get in an infinite loop of protecting each protection 😆.

Most PPF is self-healing however, I also ceramic coated my PPF to make washing a breeze!

Another option is Mag-Tek body armor but it’s a real commitment to use and manage.

how do you protect your PPF protection? I think you just do 2 layers of PPF!

Seriously I’m mostly anti PPF because for the $$ invested, you’re generally protecting against much lower cost to repair. A few rock chips and scratches worth $5k+? Also PPF doesn’t last forever so you will have to pay for it again. Next thing you know you dropped 20% of the vehicles value on plastic wrap.

Now I guess if you’re really trailblazing and it’s getting abused and It makes you feel better then PPF makes emotional sense

I had full PPF installed within days of purchasing my Bronco. For those of us who trail ride in the East PPF is a requirement if you don't want your vehicle pinstriped. It is very common to have branches scraping both sides at the same time and limb risers are very useful. These things would be useless for people doing desert running or Moab crawling.

So you paid $5000 to protect your paint, paint which is supposed to last the life of the car. Now you're looking for protection for the protection? Protection that will have to be replaced in five years or so?

I guess I don't understand.

But how would you protect the paint on the way to get PPF? Oh wait, I think there's already a thread on that 😜

Valid. Such a bold, vibrant color can really attract the wrong kind of attention.

I had the hood and fenders covered with PPF on my Bronco. Desert pin strips are easy enough to rub out that I don't need a full wrap. My 2002 Ranger has so many little rock chips in the hood that I need to redue the clear coat. I feel the PPF will protect my Bronco front end from those little rock chips.

The shop that did my PPF included applying Ceramic treatment to the entire vehicle to help protect the PFF and the rest of the paint. They aslo had me bring it back a week later to inspect the PFF and do another complete detail along with another Ceramic seal. They did it at no charge but I am sure it was included in the original $1400 for applying the PFF.
