So, we decided we would like a "scoop" (looks similar to Raptor scoop, but that was not the point, the glare was) on the hump of the hood. In pictures it looks better than a decal. There are tons of options all over the web. Some sell for hundreds, and some that look the same, cost under a hundred. Ebay has them, Amazon as well, and many other outlets. As they all look the same (and since you can't see them in person), we decided to buy a cheap one. BIG MISTAKE!

This thing is offered on Amazon, and Ebay for about 80 bucks with shipping.

It's what they call "Kuafu" (I don't know what "Kua' stands for, but "F.U." I'm familiar with). Wife was willing to help, and we started the installation. As you place the thing over the hood hump (the vehicle is Oxford White OBX with SAS), you find out that the middle of the scoop lays on the hump, but the edges are "up in the air". Well,.....the 3M tape will pull it down where it needs to be,...right? WRONG! After the "sealant" was applied, and the hood prepped with alcohol, tape was pulled out, and it looked good. Except,.......the corners didn't want to stay down. I came up with the idea of placing a big towel over the whole thing, and weigh it down with several gallons of paint (4) that I had ready for painting my deck. The resistance of the scoop to stay down was pushing the whole gallon of paint up! No way it would stay down, and I didn't have anything heavier (except maybe big rocks) to weigh it down. There is NO WAY this thing would stay stuck on the hood with old 3M (skinny) tape adhesion.

Pulled this atrocity down, had a horrible mess of the black sealant to clean off the hood, and this thing is going in a landfill. DO NOT BUY this!

Next? Going with a decal I guess. The glare of the white hood at 5000ft elevation is not pleasant. I guess I could buy a more expensive scoop,......but what's a guarantee that it won't be the same Chinese garbage? Decal it is.

Most plastics will become more malleable with some heat, did you happen to try a heat gun? Even leaving it out in the sun for a few hours can help, but it sounds like the fit was a more significant issue.

The double sided adhesive tapes will hold better with adhesive primer, something like this:

Sounds like it's too late now, sucks when stuff doesn't fit the way it should.

Umm...

If you got it off Amazon and it's prime then return it or work with the vendor. Ford does offer a faux hood scoop that should offer a better fit and hopefully quality if that's what you're looking for.

Personally, I'd just go with a flat black sticker over the hump if the glare is the issue.

Ugh... it stinks when things don't go right!

As said above, heat does help with many things. Send it back.

Completely understand the glare issue. I swapped my hood out for an AFC Ram Air Hood and the glare was back, no Wildtrak decal.

Reached out to @Underground Graphics and they designed a custom Wildtrak vinyl decal for me.

Happy days, no glare... 👍👍

Imo, none functional upgrades are just pretty parts like a mordoor... lol

Team 2dr = Purpose Built and Bad Ass!!! 👍 😎👍

Abandoned the scoop idea. Going with the flat (satin) black decal. The scoop I tried looked IDENTICAL to the one offered by Ford and it was temptingly cheap (more than $50 though, LOL). Getting a full refund, no worries. It was in the strong mid-day sun (along with the car) for a few hours before attempted install. It just wouldn't conform to the curvature of the hood. I used the primer as well. The upward force of the plastic was just too much for the tape to hold it down. It could've just been the case of getting a scoop that was in storage for too long and it warped. In either case, I won't try it again regardless of the asking price.

True story. I wanted one of these:

https://shopkitchenmama.com/products/kitchen-mama-mini-plus-rechargeable-can-opener

you see the price (I think it was $40 when I was looking). I shopped around, found the "identical" thing, unbranded from China, for $20. Got it, only to find out that it never even cut a lid. It made noise and went around the can, but otherwise did nothing.

I sent it back and said, "yeah, I'll never learn, will I" and bought the Kitchen Mama unit. Which, btw, works flawlessly.

I keep telling myself, it's the cheapest man who spends the most and I'm too poor to buy cheap. But all too often I don't listen to myself.

Years in business have taught me 50-66% of people buy on price alone. Market myself in such a way to as to let them know I’m not the cheapest so they don’t even bother calling me. I’ve also found the cheapest customer complains the most
I grew up frugal and cheap. But luckily learned to buy quality over price in my early 30s. My father’s hobby (age 90) is saving .01 cents. Every time I see him all he talks about is how he saved a penny on gas and groceries while his grand children roll their eyes.
Being cheap is not a good life

The issue here is a bit different, and it does not have anything to do with "being cheap". In the cities I used to live in, one could shop for pretty much everything, from clothes, to tools, equipment, car accessories, even cars themselves in person. Not here. The nearest "city" (small town for all practical purposes but has the university) is three hours away. I have a horse ranch. But I cannot find qualified ranch hands! There are two kinds of people living around here,...the rich people, and the druggies. I can't leave the ranch to some druggies while I leave for a day (animals have to be fed twice a day....at daybreak, and at dusk). So, the only way to buy stuff one needs, is on the web.

"Reviews" for ANYTHING cannot be trusted. Sellers either post glorious reviews by themselves, or they pay someone to do it. It's easy to "buy the best" if one has the luxury of looking at the product in person, but the Internet is all smoke and mirrors.

So back to the scoop. Who is to say that a scoop costing 4-5 times more will be flawless on arrival? Maybe this one would be perfectly OK if it was handled properly in the warehouse or in shipping. I guess I will never know. I have no problem throwing a hundred bucks or so in the garbage,........five hundred is a bit much.....I'd rather spend it on ammo.

There is ONE car dealer in the closest town to me (and one grocery store/supermarket), you would not believe what prices we pay here for everyday merchandise (like food) because there is no competition. Not to mention cars/parts/service etc. at the dealer.

Anyhow........subject is closed, scoop idea is gone, and the decal is on the way. I just wanted to warn this group of nice Bronco owners (and some not so nice ones) not to order "KUAFU" scoop if that's what some people are thinking of doing.

I ordered the Black Appearance Package with my 25. It comes with a flat/satin black decal on the raised part of the hood. That cuts down the normal glare from your hood, I couldn’t recommend it more.

I highlighted in bold your ridiculous statement.

People like me who actually live and work in these mountain communities laugh at you rich people from the big city who move here and then claim you can’t find good help.

We are not “druggies” like you claim. We work hard and expect to be paid well for our work.
