Anyone else out there make a dolly to move your loose top around?

I didn't want to spend a ton on one of the metal stands... so, I made this one out of the free off-cuts at Lowe's (3/4" plywood) and some old casters. It let's me move the top around the garage easily by myself.

I had it hanging on the wall to store it, and it looked unfinished. My wife said it looked like a big picture frame and painted it like this for me 🙂.

Anyway, just wondering what others have come up with, in case I need to borrow some ideas.

Does something like this warp the top? I realize they tend to be overpriced

I would hope not, but these tops seem to be so susceptible to damage, I'd be apprehensive about buying one.

I have the same hoist, I get a good bit of use out of it and didn't want to have it unavailable when the tops off the Bronco.

damage... to the dolly itslef?
No, damage to the top. I feel like the top has some flex to it, I'd be scared of breaking something standing it up that way.

I'm probably just over-thinking it... But, I cracked a side window on my CJ-7 hard top many moons ago (granted... it was cold, and I was walking it back towards a wall) but that thing was built like a freaking tank compared to this top.

Okay, so now I'm feeling like a lazy bum, I put absolutely no effort into this.
Mine is sitting on a folding table from Costco.

A bit off topic but couldn't help noticing the R11S in the not so common blue livery. Very nice.

Thanks, man. I just found it few months ago.

I had a red '99 R11S for many years and sold it to my brother-in-law with (82K on the clock) when I found this blue one... That's the reason for the red Corbin that's on it now.

These bikes are great! Miss them after you sell them. I was lucky to buy back my 2004 BCR, missed it for 3 years!

That looks really neat.

Part of me wants to remove my trailrax so that I can remove my top from time to time. Camping season starts in three weeks though, so it would go right back on.
Same for me (remove the roof rack to go topless). I'm trying to work out a solution wherein I can remove the TrailRax and the hardtop as a unit with my ceiling mounted hardtop hoist. Those 4 nuts on the front of the TrailRax (behind the wind deflector) are the difficult / tedious part.

Very nice! The functionality plus the artistic flair combine for a great solution. Unfortunately, my garage floor space is at a premium so I've had to go with a ceiling mounted hoist and storage approach.
