Hoist a Top for 2 Door Installed

After 3 years of using 4 hooks in the roof at the corners, and 4 ratchet straps, decided to get an actual hoist. Should have taken some pics of building it, but it is pretty straight forward. Watched the video from them on it, with a 4 door model. Looks like they have updated a few things, instead of a wire to lift it, now its a nylon strap which is much easier to setup. It can now be lifted up high enough to pull all the way under and make more room in the garage, and no more hitting my head on it when walking in the garage.

Overall pretty happy with it, paid $550 on Amazon for it. Should have done it earlier. Only bad thing about the roof being off me parking in the garage, is all my toys are taking up the room, and my wife has to park hers outside which I never hear the end of

I like them, puts the wife's outside though... and being 100+ right now in the south, not super happy about it haha. Sprinkler system gets it wet and then dries with hard spots... never hear the end of it

Looks clean. I was trying to figure out what to do since I don't have a garage. This is what I came up with. It's a work in progress, the first time I used it I scratched the pillars pretty good, but I since added pool noodles to protect them.

I had the exact same issue because I don't have the height in my garage to clear the truck. I gouge the paint a bit driving out from underneath it. I ended up using some edge molding that I had bought to stop the infernal paint rub issue on the tailgate which did that job nicely. I ran this stuff along the interior edge of the roof, which was too sharp anyway. But it was an easy install and there is no more roll bar damage. Picture below of the stuff I used. It's an American company so you guys south of the 49th parallel should he able to find it easily. [Edit] And for you Canadian guys, you can find it at our GOD BLESS CANADA!!!! Canadian Tire.

I already have a hoist. Anyone know if you can just buy the bracket (or maybe someone else sells just a bracket?)

Relying on those clips that fit in the roof rack slots to maintain the top bothers me. These tops cost to much to have them hanging that way. But hey, that’s me.

Yup...I bought the Lange Hoist a few years ago. Works great, that's for sure.

The straps instead of the wires looks like a good improvement.

I like the idea that @totaljustice came up with as far as using the edging. I use 1/2 pipe insulation and remove it when almost installed. It also protects your head when walking under if you are taller.

Can you post a picture of the motor and drum? I’m curious how different it is from the steel cable version.

Here you go, if you need anything different let me know. I never had the cable, but the strap seems to be better for usage and setting up.

Bummer, completely different motor. Now I also see they have a different version for the painted top. I’m reaching out to see what the differences are.
