Try unplugging the battery. Maybe that will reset the system to be off until you get it to a dealership.
I would hope that doesnt work. If you were broke down on a hill, ands all of a sudden your ebrake decides to stop working because you were messing with battery.

I don't have all the answers, but we need a manual brake

You can pull the dash and disconnect the ebrake wiring from the switch maybe

Then if you are locked up there is a manual way to unbrake the ebrake, remove tire, remove ebrake, rotate 360, etcetc. I don't have the instructions but i seent it on the internet

Good point. That would be very bad. 😲

If only there was some way to limit it to being a mechanically linked function with some type of lever for activation. 🤔

Mine was broken before I took ownership. There is the lever, and a small white plastic piece that slides in a channel on the left side of the module. You may be able to move the white plastic piece to toggle the e-brake off.

On mine, it never was "stuck" on or engaged.

The lever was completely off and the white plastic piece was still in the module, but not in the channel. I gently moved the white plastic piece around at different angles until it fell out.

Here are some pics:

That's interesting, mine isn't torn out like this, but I do hear a piece of plastic rattling around. Funny that's all there is to it and mine is so messed up.

I agree on the manual brake. It appears that the electric e-brake is becoming the standard on new cars, but I like the ability to manually set the parking brake.

My brake switch was messed up when I picked up the Bronco. Switch fell off, they put it back together then it would get stuck. The switch assembly comes out pretty easily you may be able to put it back together and put the spring back in place. I was able to keep mine while they ordered parts to put a new switch in.

You read it, I thought I was pulling hood release, wasn't paying attention. I yanked it and it snapped, now the brake won't dis engage. Anything I can do without having it towed to the dealer?
Try disconnecting the battery and then flip down the plastic trim below the steering wheel and disconnect the parking brake connector. Reconnect the battery after 10 min. This should give you a bake fault, at this point reconnect the parking brake connector. The fault should disappear, and the connector should reset. If it still doesn’t disengage, try disconnecting the battery for 10 min one last time.
