Gear Indicator Color

Hi All - have an odd question for Raptor owners with the stock tune

I have a 2023 Raptor that I put the Whipple tune on when the truck had 100 miles on it. One thing I noticed is that my gear indicator is always orange now. However, I don’t remember if it was that way before the tune or not.

Can anymore confirm the color of the gear indicator on the dash in Normal mode for a ‘23 Braptor?

Normal is pale blue. As is Slippery, Off Road

Sport is White as is Tow Haul

baja is pale orange as is Rock Crawl.

Are you asking gear selector or GOAT mode selector. Cause the Gear selector has always been orange just like every other Ford

The gear display on the digital dash - in the middle of the tachometer on the left hand side.

Following up on this thread - I heard back from Whipple that this is an artifact from their tune and they do not have a way to change it.

Adding to the observations. Switching from automatic mode to manual mode also changes the color of the gear indictor number. I think it always changes to the brownish/orange when in manual.

Very odd artifact. I'd call that a bug... Hopefully they will fix this. They had help directly from Ford with their tune, they should be able to fix.

interesting..... so it stays orange no matter what mode your in? they must be basing their tune off of baja mode somehow.... which makes sense considering that mode has the most hp.

Yeah, exactly. It’s always orange. Which is a minor annoyance.

I'm reasonably sure power levels are not affected by mode. It's just the shifting strategy, pedal map/sensitivity and turbo lag management in Baja Mode.

If you look at the manual under modes it states "engine tuning" as one of the features of sport and baja mode.
I'm pretty sure their changing timing etc for sport and baja mode. I've done a TON of testing using the R button to change modes under acceleration, note the change and try to recreate in normal mode and you can't.
If you try to add more pedal to recreate the way sport mode pulls it'll just downshift.

You cant recreate it in normal mode because it has a completely different shift strategy. Sport/baja is designed to hold lower gears longer to help acceleration. All that changes is pedal response and shift strategy.

Good investigative work/observations. That said, pedal mapping and shift strategies can do a ton to overall feel. It should only take a few 1/4 mi runs or something like 30-100 runs to settle the question. My rig is in the shop...

Also, a search for engine tuning came up empty in my pdf manual. Odd. Please share.
