Can you please add some information to the difference between these 2?
Never had oil? Fill to top plug.

Had oil? Fill to the bottom plug.
A brand-new axle from Dana that has never been in service and has never had any oil in it requires oil to "wet" the internals, so you fill it to the top hole, because you will lose some volume in the process.

An axle that has been in service--like the one under your Bronco has had oil so you only fill to the bottom hole--otherwise, you will be overfilling the axle.

Great idea to do this, can you please provide part numbers for the cover and oil
Sorry I cant read the stamp on the inside of the cover
Where did you end up buying it? Your dealer where?
TY!!

Use promo code REDEEM524 (expires on 05/31) for a 15% discount (SHOP524 **may** give you 20% off).

I would use a third-party oil versus buying Ford branded--there is nothing special about it except for the high price.

perfect thank you!!
So if replacing the dif oil in a stock bronco, thats been driven for 25,000 miles, just fill it to the bottom hole.
Any idea how much oil that is?
Why would they include the top hole - the chances of this going on a brand new rear axle are like, none

Seeing as 99% of factory axles/vehicles only have a single fill port, I find that logic a bit weird.

The OEM spec’d 2QTs fills to the lower hole.

I suppose that the upper could be used as a “(over)fill to” for extreme cases where the axle is being flexed to an extreme angle. Or if you were looking to implement a diff cooler, you would utilize both NPTs

Likely because Dana already had it engineered for other M220 axles. They sell the Ultimate D44 as an aftermarket axle and the Wrangler uses the same axle. It was probably easier to simply copy and modify versus building from scratch.

I can also see where on a >3.5" lift, the rotation of the axle would mean using the lower hole would set the fluid level lower than it should be.

If memory serves, you need about 2QTs.

Diode dynamic reverse light and red brake light. Works good and easy to install just plugs into trailer harness.
Ahh but cannot be used as a chase light?

Mine held ”exactly” 2 quarts. Manual indicates 63.6 ounces (or something close to that.

I find that the “two hole” covers make it much easier (and less messy) to fill. Fill hose in the top hole, plug in hand ready for the bottom hole.

The Ford Performance website that was in link above a few threads.

With the code, my cost was 193 shipped to the MIA. Just something else to toss on my Ford credit card :)

I believe this is the correct answer for the 2 hole question
