I have the single can Mishimoto, on my 2.7l and it 100% catches oil and condensate.

I don't have a long commute to work, and I think those short rides contribute to it. I need to check it again, maybe ill have a chance to post what it caught since last time.

Really debating if I should do this. Opinions are all over the place on it though.

Installed. Lethal was great on service, as the Ford kit was missing one of the brackets, so I got half installed. Then the missing bracket arrived. Went to install it, dropped the driver side bracket and spent 30min in awkward positions to fish it out from between steering and suspension parts. Driver side OEM lower hose connection was tough with the orange end hose. Anyhow, job done.

Same experience, driver side lower hose connection was only hiccup, but only 5 minutes to get the right screwdriver prying it. Just abandon fear and do it, the hose connector is designed to break to remove it

I really admired the OEM-engineered look of all the hoses, brackets and stuff. Glad you put photos up

Are there drains, or do you have to remove & open them up? is there any kind of level check?
Thanks 🤠
No inspection windows. But taking them off to remove, check/inspect and put back is really easy. They slide up off the bracket and the hoses disconnect and reconnect easily. Everything feels like factory bits here.

I am a total sucker for anything about engine reliability. This particular hobby (OCD?) has probably saved me a new car or two.

Ford does things that are genuinely good for emissions or fuel economy reasons (EGR, Stop/start, Direct injection, etc). Bravo. But I'd bet their calculus is that as long as they can hold the line on whatever they think the service life is (150K mi maybe?) their job is done.

Getting engines to last 2-300K isn't exactly their business model.

Catch cans are needed on 2.7/3.0/3.5 eco boost, as it’s a closed system the oil/residue build ups in the lower portion of the inter cooler, then the charge tubes build up, etc. (Ford’s Fix is to drill a hole 1/8” hole in the bottom of the intercooler cap to let it drain. They state the psi drop from the small hole isn’t enough to cause an issue.)

I’ve done 5 or 6 intercoolers and 4-5 pairs of turbos on 2015+ F150’s with the 2.7. The gunk that comes out is horrendous…I’ll see if I can find any recent photos. Anywhere from 90-150k too
What year F150? I had thought Ford changed the 2.7 one of the years to how it is now. I have run catch cans on my vehicles, and even had them on my 5.0 F150's. My Shelby's had them, and I will probably get one for the Bronco soon. Just trying to decide which, with that most likely being the Ford solution.

CJ Pony parts has these for $470, minus 8% discount for military/first responders.
Best deal I've been able to find.
Thanks just ordered, though shipping is 3 weeks but I can wait. Heck I waited over 2 years for my Bronco 😁

I do the same on everything I have too. I’ve seen these issues on 2015-2020. The compressor shaft & wheel and cold side of the turbo and the waste gate design is the same on all the 2.7’s, so I feel this is a consistent problem across them.

The trucks that contractors use and idle 10 hours a day are even worse, the turbos aren’t pushing psi at idle, zero cold air flowing by it, the hot side heats up, the oil feed doesn’t increase as it’s just idling and the life of the turbo reduced. That little bit of vacuum that the turbos are producing when idle (.05-.10) pulls hot air and vapor thru the closed intake tubes of the CCV and it just sits there. Let the engine breathe. The Ford kit is very nice and wouldn’t bother the ford techs when they see it. I personally would recommend the UPR dual valve;

I’m in the process of trading in my 2023 4 door for a new 2023 4 door so I pulled out he system off to swap it. zero residue in the lines and fittings, just at the bottom of the can as intended.

I have a UPR Single on my 2.7 and after 2500 miles there was like 6 drops of oil in the catch can..
Have you ran the catch can through winter yet?

I had a reservation on day one, Hour one of the release. I waited 20 months and backed out when the dealer sold it from under me. Never thought I would want again but I watched this one get unloaded off the tuck while stuck in traffic, it was not sold, so I scooped it up. I now have an opportunity to make a little on this one and pay msrp on the new one.

Found this video that gives a good overview of the Ford Performance kit @ 9:10
And while not a 2.7 it is dual injected and here are the results & why I just ordered the FP kit 🤠
