Anyone else's FP diff cover paint chipping away?

Wonder if I just got a bad one or if this is common.

Mine still looks good but I know others have had issues.

Yes, I had paint chip away the day I installed it- around some of the bolt holes. I touched it up with paint that I had at the house that was almost a perfect color match. I used a small brush around the bolts. I was not too happy about the paint chipping. I have not had any more chips occur since the install.

Same experience here with the paint chipping around the bolts during installation. I left it alone as I installed for the drain hole and wasn't concerned about the cosmetics of it.

That said, I coated the underside of the truck with Blaster Surface Shield so the missing paint shouldn't lead to rust issues unless I missed a spot.

mine looks the same but i am in the salt belt noticed mine last week also paint was chipping on the install also rather disappointing

Yep mine looks the same. Eventually I'll remove it and have it powder coated

I have a paint chip, a section came off. I will eventually get around to painting that spot.

Looking at the chipped paint, the metal underneath appeared rusty- like no primer was used before they applied the paint. I sanded the rusted areas before I applied the touch up paint.

This is concerning for those who I've painted Diff covers for (including myself).
IF there was oxidation under that factory paint that eventually leads to coating cracking and delamination, then the "pretty" stuff on top of that inferior coating isn't going to prevent it from happening. Slow it down, sure.
Keeping fingers crossed this isn't a widespread situation...

It does look like rust where my paint chipped. I will do this as well when I get around to fix this.

Also, fwiw, I emailed FP about and they are sending a replacement (might just get that new one powder coated from the start)

Mine looks just like that and its only been on for 4-5 months

Mine doesn't look quite that bad, but it seems that it's only a matter of time.
I sent them an email too to see if they'll send me a new one

They sending some of that expensive Motorcraft oil too with the replacement covers?

Oh boy those look awful. I stated it in another post, it seems they missed priming before they applied the finish coat of paint. I have painted a lot of auto parts and if you don't use good primer base, this is what happens.
