Amber or yellow for snow, be sure to have them switched separately from your headlights so that you can use only the ambers in extreme conditions.

For ditch lights I installed Uni-bond lights. They are a very well known made in Canadian brand that specializes in emergency vehicle lighting.

They are both white and amber in the same unit. I wired them to Aux switches 3&4 white to #3. Amber to #4. I think the work great and look really good. They are 4”x4.25”.

I will say that visibility is better with Amber. But nice to have both options in one.

With your setup can you activate the amber independently from the white lights?

I'm late to the party. Our KR Off-Road ARB Compressor mounts came in, been busy with those.

Anyway. As most said, white light is better for normal clear conditions where amber/yellow is best for fog/dust/snow/rain conditions.

Stick with Wide patterns for fog use, spot patterns to throw light down range and combo patterns if you want a bit of wide and spot in one lens. Flood packages are not that great for forward lighting but are better for ditch lighting/rear lighting, as the flood is so dispersed it won't do much good forward facing.

We let you pick the lights with our KR Off-Road kits, which come with either Baja Designs or Diode Dynamics lights:

I believe Baja also recommends keeping amber below the hood/white above the hood since lower lights do a better job of cutting through the fog and don't blind you as much. Baja and maybe others also have amber (Baja is more yellow actually) rock guards which can be used with white lights to give you the option to switch white to yellow and back (and add protection for the lenses), though at the expense of you're probably losing a bit of light by running through two lenses.

You can get 2-3 lights in the holes of the modular bumper. I got an amber and a white SAE along with an additional white trail light. In the end it depends on what you need the lights for. Some well designed pre-wired kits can be found here:

This is the best solution. US military (well, ww2) and most of Europe go with amber as it cuts through the bluish light and enhances visiblity. Won't always be in fog and having daylight is helpful. I dig having the fog lights light up the road in bad weather.

Clear lens allows all the light out...color lens sucks light...
Proper beam, adjustment & placement cuts glare

With your setup can you activate the amber independently from the white lights?
Yes. Amber on one switch, white spot/trail on another. Kit comes with wiring harness to separate the two

What is the better choice if adding SAE fog lights to the modular bumper? Amber? Clear?

Planning to replace the dash headlight switch with the one that has the foglight button and connecting the fogs to the existing fog wire harness.
Amber, and they should be low like in the bumper.
