My guess is it's dust. When I go to a dusty OHV park like Barnwell or Merus, everything squeaks! Even my passenger window, which squeaks like a mouse. A good car wash and drive on the highway, or like once I drove back 5 hours in a huge overnight rainstorm, all squeaks gone.Whats weird is my 2 door never squeaked once. This seems to be a 4 door thing, likely cause of the extra panels for some reason. Its super annoying though when youre on a trail. Wonder if anyone has found the root cause. Seems to be almost be flex between the panels due to body shifting.
Its one thing to deal with wind/road noise and dont mind that one bit. But loud obnoxious squeaking right above my head somewhere needs to be fixed. Like someone with a dog squeak toy annoying the hell out of me for the whole trip. Just takes away from the fun to be honest. Id take a rattle or knock noise any day over the squeaking.
IMO 4x4 removable tops always squeak sometime. The wind tunnel noise is a bigger problem for me... WHAT'D YOU SAY??!!? NO! I DON'T HEAR ANY SQUEAKS!! lol
Also glad to see you're warming up to the 2.3, which I won't say I love but I respect.
And if you were asking me, I'd keep a lighter 35" A/T like the Maxxis Razr A/T or Nitto Recon Grappler. That'll help keep your MPG and won't lug as much on the take off. Offset that with a lighter rim like a Method and you've kept all your unsprung weight as-is but with a much better tire. The Maxxis, for instance, will give you about 1/5" of lift! lol
