Whats weird is my 2 door never squeaked once. This seems to be a 4 door thing, likely cause of the extra panels for some reason. Its super annoying though when youre on a trail. Wonder if anyone has found the root cause. Seems to be almost be flex between the panels due to body shifting.

Its one thing to deal with wind/road noise and dont mind that one bit. But loud obnoxious squeaking right above my head somewhere needs to be fixed. Like someone with a dog squeak toy annoying the hell out of me for the whole trip. Just takes away from the fun to be honest. Id take a rattle or knock noise any day over the squeaking.
My guess is it's dust. When I go to a dusty OHV park like Barnwell or Merus, everything squeaks! Even my passenger window, which squeaks like a mouse. A good car wash and drive on the highway, or like once I drove back 5 hours in a huge overnight rainstorm, all squeaks gone.

IMO 4x4 removable tops always squeak sometime. The wind tunnel noise is a bigger problem for me... WHAT'D YOU SAY??!!? NO! I DON'T HEAR ANY SQUEAKS!! lol

Also glad to see you're warming up to the 2.3, which I won't say I love but I respect.

And if you were asking me, I'd keep a lighter 35" A/T like the Maxxis Razr A/T or Nitto Recon Grappler. That'll help keep your MPG and won't lug as much on the take off. Offset that with a lighter rim like a Method and you've kept all your unsprung weight as-is but with a much better tire. The Maxxis, for instance, will give you about 1/5" of lift! lol

I can 100% agree that dust had a factor in the squeaks. There wasnt one squeak ever priot to about 15 min on a trail that had plenty of dust. I still wonder if adding something to any of the seals around each panel will help with that. May play around and see if it changes. Either that, or will have to just loosen the latch everytime Im out on the trail. Which seems silly, but at least would keep it from being annoying until I wash it down.

And to the warming up comment on the 2.3. What do you mean about the "which I wont say I love but respect part?". I do wish we got the 2.7 still, but overall feel the 2.3 isnt as bad as my initial impression of it and have got more used to it. It doesnt seem to be a turd, but its not powerful. Its like right there in the middle. Which I feel like is the best description I could give to it. I do think that when just going up some steeper hills on the trails, that dont require 4x4, and just in 2H, that you definitely need to give it more gas than Id like. Feels very lazy down low. 4 Lo does feel a lot better as to be expected.

Also, thats a great chart! Did you make that? Although, to be honest I dont really care too much about MPGs as this thing is literally a brick driving down the road. The reason these Goodyears are so light is cause they have super thin sidewalls and overall cheap tire. Id personally sacrifice MPGs for a more robust tire thats heavier. And considering lifting and 37s. But worry to your point that the 2.3 will lug even more. But that chart you gave is definitely a great cheat sheet to help determine tire weights! Im still hoping the Ford Performance tune helps that laziness at the beginning.

It's possible as it starts to settle, the squeaks and wind noise will migrate. I had people think I had a window open in back first six months (I have a 2dr, no rear windows...). Then it was on the front passenger near windshield. Now it's the passenger side above the headrest, and a little behind my head...

You basically said what I was thinking. The only engine I've had that I loved was my 98 Chevy's Vortec 350. That thing was so much fun. I'm not a big engine monster, though. At least it's not the 4-clunker I had in my 95 YJ.

CarbonSteel put that chart together (there's also a 37 one, search the forums). I'm also not a big 37's for the heck of it (I want 38's because I want clearance and it's cheaper than portals). I don't think it looks like that much of a difference, and 12mpg on a small tank is a hit. I already stop enough for gas on trips... Three Buc-ees going to Houston! lol  (Not just for gas, but I do get it.) You will definitely stay in boost more and longer with more unsprung weight.

I thought I losing my damn mind with that wind noise spot! Mine sounds like its passenger side, somewhere between the front passenger seat and rear passenger seat. Literally sounds like a window is cracked. So dumb and havent been able to find it yet. Either way, I can say that the 4 door is definitely been quieter than my 2 door Badlands was for some reason. Even with the squeaks and window down noise. My two door, even with the sound deadening headliner seemed to be quiet a bit overall louder.

And yeah, that chart is amazing! Although Im going to start a thread with actual tire measurements with a tape measure as most manufactures are a ways off on actual measurements. Would be nice for people to know how say a 35" Toyo MT compares to a 35" BFG MT. On an old Jeep forum I saw, they did just that. I think it would be super helpful to get one of those going here.

You mentioned going to 38s, how do you plan on getting there? Also, what tires/size do you have now? And hey, look at the bright side. Its never a bad stop if you have to hit up a Buc-ees! Now, in the middle of nowhere Nebraska gas station that you coasted into on fumes, not as fun

I want them, I don't know that I'll get them. It'll be a while regardless. I have 35" Maxxis Razr M/Ts, which are very nice, a little clompy from the tread pattern but a truer 35.

To go 38's I'd need 0mm offset wheels or spacer, crash bar mount delete, probably cut some off the back of the front tire wells, alternative wheel well liner, and lighter rims like the Method bead grips (so I lose some weight, not technically necessary). And probably going up to Bilstein 6100's or better to handle the heavier tires but stay low, 2" or less. This'll impact the axles a lot more, so don't want to mess with the warranty there just yet.

If the Everglades came with a 2.7 option, I wouldnt hesitate on the purchase even without the bells and whistles.
This is why I went with Badlands non-sas.
Adding 35x11.5s and a bumper that looks like it was designed for a winch later.
Adding longer axle vent hoses is a simple task.

The decision to use the 2.3L in the Everglades was based on the alternator's location. The 2.7L's location on the bottom of the engine killed the water-fording capability.

This is not true. Please see my prior post here in this tread about it. That was a complete rumor that got started a long time ago, but is not accurate. I can tell you first hand there is no difference in height between alternator locations on the 2.7 and 2.3. One on is on the bottom right of the engine and the other is on the bottom left. In the post I had, it shows this. Definitely not the reason they went with the 2.3.

I do see that now. Would that slight bit account for the 3"?

Definitely not. I was say at best guess it maybe is an inch or so max difference between the two when looking at them compared to the frame rail and engine mounts. Although it would be nice for someone to take a tape from the ground up lowest point of the alternator on the 2.7, stock tires, 4 door sasquatch. I no longer have my 2 door anymore, but could take that measurement on our Everglades if anyone wanted to do the same on their 2.7 sasquatch. Ford mentioned they used the 2.3 because of the extra weight up front of the bumper and what it does to the suspension. I would have to agree. They probably would have had to come up with a 1 off coil spring just for the Everglades if they used the 2.7. I know when I put the Rough country winch and mount on my 2, it dropped the front end a full inch. So I could see where it would be really nose heavy without some other modifications suspension wise to raise back up.

another well published "fact" is the weight difference between the 2.3 and 2.7 is 300# and the winch and modular bumper add 300# to the weight of the total vehicle. I suspect there's a bunch of other internet facts out there-- but If I was a betting man it would all come down to cost, CAFE numbers , and profit.

It is only 150#, the rest of that 300# is likely to be the automatic transmission differences.

My calculations based on the Base specs is 152# for the 2.7 and an extra 20# for the auto
