How do I go about upping the amps in one of my switches from 15 to 30? There are other threads on here but I can not find the answer that works for me. I tried a 4 pin relay and it did not work.
I am trying to get a light bar that was hooked up to Aux 1(30amp) to run on Aux 2 (15amp). Aux 1 is now being used by the train horn I installed.

Why did the relay "not work"? If hooked up correctly, there's no reason it wouldn't.

I have the 30 going to the positive on the battery, 85 grounded to the frame, 87 to the light bar and 86 to the aux cable. And nothing.

Interesting. Yeah if they are all good connections I don't see why it's not working.

are you using a four terminal relay or the 5? If 5 terminal if I recall 87a will have power at rest and 87 will when relay is triggered. And 87a will not. Installed a million years ago so may not recall at rest state of 87 and 87a. A simple multi meter will trouble shoot this issue. 12v working from aux switch? 12v on main in of relay. Good ground on opposite side of coil? Verified power on output of relay when triggered? Power reaching light? Ground at light? Should be able to test this in a few minutes.

Tried a new relay with a 30a fuse and still nothing. Going to play with it more tonight.

@bfinger It's gotta be something easy - I am also in Houston and install/troubleshoot this kind of wiring on my Bronco all the time. If you need a helper or a second pair of eyes just message me and we can meet up someplace, I'll bring my electrical testers & tools if you need any.

Have you tested for good power and ground on all the connections? Relays are pretty simple when hooked up correctly. There's literally no reason it wouldn't be working.
