I know this is a loaded question, but I am not sure how decide as I have zero experience with car audio (in the last 20 years). My Basesquatch Bronco was built yesterday, and I am awaiting shipment. I have read most of the threads here, but many are older.

My plan:
1. Replace all 4" speakers - if that is enough then fine. If not:
2. Add Kicker 200.1 Key and Kicker Hideaway in back, keeping it simple with a plug and play kit. Not enough:
3. Replace kick panel speakers.

I am fine with spending up to $200/pair. I don't think I have high enough expectations for anything more than that.

I am adding a poll, but would also love to hear your experiences.

All prices are current (11/5/22) on Crutchfield. Crutchfield says they all fit except the JLs, but other threads confirm fitment. Any experiences?

Thanks in advance for any advice.

Good point. I may be okay with just upgrading the speakers. I am thinking maybe I buy the most efficient I can get to start with, which are the infinity’s.

Last bump for votes! I am leaning towards the Alpines. Kick Key has been ordered...

I have the Alpine S-40's and they sound great! I did use a component Alpine up front and for the kick panels. All together it came out very nice, and I am still using the stock B&O amps.

I’ve got Infinity Reference all the way around. Once I got it tuned so it sounded good - the dash speakers barely put out anything at all - the rear pods carry most of the lift. The kicks I can honestly not even hear them discretely (although if you unhook them you can tell something is missing). Just how it kind of played out in my setup I guess. I left the Sync/head unit balance/fade at factory default and tuned my amp until it all sounded balanced. The rear channel is set at almost double the power even though it’s driving half the number of speakers - but it sounds good. Even better after I spent a half day just kinda playing with Forscan options.

Infinities have their own crossover filters - no low pass (or other) filtering required.

They aren’t bad speakers at all, especially for the price. And they have nice ratings that let you drive them from the stock head unit ok, and keep using them and drive them from an amp if you upgrade later on.

Anyone know what is the difference if any between the Infinity ref407f and ref-4032cfx speakers? They seem to be used interchangeably and photos look the same. Unclear if they are different models or if one has superceded the other?

Think one is just a newer model name - I don't think there is any physical difference. All the specs are identical, but the 4032's show as "no longer available" at Crutchfield. So I bet the 407 is just the new model name.

I have the 4032 in my dash. And on the Amazon page for 4032, it says "There is a newer model of this available: ref407s"

Also this Reddit thread kinda talks about it, they come to about the same conclusion (in typical Reddit fashion)

I just replaced all 6 speakers with the Focals. Those alone made a world of difference in the range. I'm not going to bother with the Kickery Key or anything else at this point.

I replaced the 2 front / 2 rear with Hertz. Very happy.
