I am having issue where even when my center console is locked with a key I can still get it to open. Once I lock it with key you can no longer push in on button but with very little force you can open it anyway. I had Ford look at it during last service but they said it was working. Anyone else had this issue? I realize if someone wanted to they could use crowbar to open it but I would like to stop average person from opening it quickly if I want to put phone/valuables when I have top off.

Just take your valuables with you and leave the chamber unlocked.

Way less damage incurred when someone decides to rifle through the console

If you really need to secure items, recommend console vault. That "locking" key mechanism is a screwdriver away from opening.

Uh, @consolevault...huh, they're not on here. Anyway, grab that. Pretty easy install, easy to use. Quite secure. You can keep things that shoot in there if they're smaller. And legal.

Ha, posted same time!

When I had my 95 YJ with the plastic windows, this is what I did. Came out maybe six times to a door open and the glove box/console open. Nothing to steal, so no big deal. And they didn't cut my windows.

About a decade ago, I had my 2dr Chevy pickup and was part of a run group Tue/Thu night. Nicer part of town (a couple of the runners were CEOs, I just lived in an apartment nearby). So we go out one night as it's getting dark and sometime before we came back, someone broke into several cars in a way where we knew they were watching us. They didn't hit my truck, though. I did have only my keys and didn't put anything in the glovebox/console when I got out, so perhaps that was it.

I had a buddy in high school that had a rash of stereos stolen from his car. After the third or fourth one, he gets angry, lines the entire underside of the head unit with razor blades. Comes out a couple weeks later to blood all over his carpet, the dash bashed in in what appears to be a fit of pain-induced rage, but the stereo still happily in place.

I don’t know if they still steal radios but it is a frustrating experience. It costs more to replace the dash and window damage than to replace the radio. And the police don’t even bother showing up. They send you a form to fill out, they don’t investigate and figure insurance will take care of it.

LOL, thank you. I had no idea my Braptor even had that but I just looked and see it... LOL

Now I can lock the cover on my locked console vault inside my locked truck....

I have had the Bronco for just over two years. I was today years old when I discovered there was a lock there.
Easy to miss, so understandable lol

The only one that center console lock or glovebox lock is going to stop is maybe an elementary school kid. (The same key fits both.) I expect it to stop my grandkids but it is not a serious deterrent for anyone older. Get the console vault which will not stop a real criminal but will deter a dishonest person from a crime of opportunity.

I bought mine directly from Console Vault (It's their vault that is licensed by Ford) so at least you can choose the type of lock you want.
