I was asking myself the other day when filling up just what benefit is there to not having a cap? A few seconds? Inevitably whatever mechanism they have in the cap that lets air in but not vapors out fails and $15 cap is easy to replace. Can't imagine replacing the capless assembly is easy nor cheaper. Or is the case of the government doing us a favor by mandating capless under the rationale that with self service, us amateurs too often don't put the cap on all the way.

I see this issue on the Acura Integra forums as well. Several people attributed it to Costco pumps stretched across to the opposite side, putting too much pressure on the filler and breaking them. I haven't had a problem with my Bronco, my Integra Type-S, or my previous A-Spec. I also had a Mustang GT for years and didn't have a problem, but I don't do the stretch across the vehicle to fill it from the opposite side.

Having the fuel fill on the wrong (passenger) side is a serious pet peeve of mine. Immediately makes me want to buy something else.

I’m aware, but never knew of an issue until the Bronco came along.
Me either, I guess the question is did Ford change the design for Bronco for some reason. I'll have to remember to look at the wife's F-150 to see if there are any obvious differences.

Capless makes me fear miscreants putting detritus in my tank though you can buy locking plugs for some but haven’t found one for Bronco 🤨

Went to fill up last night and could not get the gas stations fuel nozzle all the way into the tank, gets caught on the second flap. Tried multiple nozzles at multiple gas stations and same thing. Tried the fuel funnel from the trunk and same issue.

Attaching a pic of the inside flap/door that the nozzles get stuck on- is there supposed to be a cover on it that broke off? Seems there are tabs sticking out of it and the top of the nozzles/funnel gets stuck on the bottom one. The other pic shows how far in the funnel goes, cant get it in any further.

Any chance someone can take a quick of their interior to see if it looks the same? I cant put gas in my bronco, which is kind of an issue : )

Just happened to me as well with 1300 miles. Assuming this is covered under warranty?

EPA mandate. Doesn't have to make sense

Any solutions? Just happened to me.
Did you try a different pump? Sometimes there’s an issue with one of the nozzles and it won’t allow the latch door to open.
If you’ve tried multiple nozzles and it still won’t work, there must be an issue with the filler neck itself. Unfortunately hard to say what exactly without looking at it.

I managed to get it in, but had to give it a hard shove. I'll see what happens tomorrow, at a different pump.
