Ive never been a tube bumper fan, but as a fellow 8274 enthusiast, that the prettiest thing I've seen in quite a while.
She started out as an ugly duckling but thankfully I have a buddy who does powder coating.

Hey, excellent work, as many have stated.
I can appreciate the time and energy that went into this and it is a TON.
Great job reinforcing to the intercooler mount area as well.
Personally I like the minimalist look of the tubes, maybe a dimple panel in the rear to cover up the frame crossmember and one up front to mimic that and balance out the look. Definitely wouldn't go crazy with the dimple die panels and ruin the excellent lines you have going on there.

I'd be interested in a rear bumper, and I'd bet one could cut the very center out of that crossmember and tie a receiver tube into the bumper with some bolt-on 90 degree flanges for the crossmember and have a nice high-n-tight option to carry a basket or something light duty and not completely kill the departure angle.

Excellent work.

I decided that I wanted to run a Warn 8274 winch for the nostalgic look. Problem is there is not any good bumper options out there.

I built front and rear bumpers. They are not finished but got them done enough for my Windrock trip back at the First of the month.

I was thinking about dimpled sheet metal to hide the frame and tie in with my rock skis(I built also)

This was my first time building tube bumpers.

Tube is 1.75 DOM .120 wall

@RC Bronco Do these come as a set or are they sold individually? I was planning on buying some, but it wasn't clear on their website. Thanks!
They come as a set, unpainted, raw steel!

Very nice job !!! I too even before I had my Bronco knew that it was crying out for Tube bumpers, and like you, did not see any on the market that met my approval, so made my own. To save some weight, protect the vital parts, and look good, I used 3/8" Lexan and CNC'd the grille design into it. Doing the same on the rear this winter. Made some Rock sliders like you too, frame mounted.

What size tubing is that main tube? How did you bend it?

3", with the rest 1 3/4" Dom metal. Made a template for the bends on the 3", and there is a shop near me that bent it. I can only do up to 1 3/4", and didn't see spending $$$ for a die that I would only use a few times.

That's not a bad looking design.
The rock skis top looks very similar to mine.

After building my bumpers it's easy to see why they cost what they do. I think it's hard for the average person to appreciate the time to build and to design.

And the bad thing is when you get done. You step back and think I should have done this, this, and this different.

It's kind of nice to be able to say that you built that.....and not just bolted it on.

Thanks. Didn't want to move the ACC, parking sensors or play around with the intercooler, so built around those, and then cleaned up the look without sacrificing any warranty issues.
There is always cost involved (more time) designing and making the first one, to get it right. Companies have to incorporate that into the cost of the parts made, as that is not done for free, which some people just don't understand.
I took my time, and I'm happy the way it came out. I will be doing the rear almost the same way to match the front.
Only reason I said to use Lexan, is that it is almost indestructible (used in prisons and hospitals for screens), and easy to bend around areas. Just weld on some small tabs on the tubes, and cut the Lexan to fit. You can heat it up to form it around tight areas if needed. sand and paint, or Line-X like I did.

I keep saying it, but I believe the 8274 the best winch on the planet and more Broncos need then. Nice job!

Glad to see some home built bumpers out of appropriately sized tubing. Everything I’ve seen available has tiny tubing. When I built the bumper for my Exploder I used 1.75” dom. Survived two deer hits, one at 75mph. Both times the stinger knocked the deer down under the truck and I had zero damage. Just deer guts on everything underneath.

We have small deer here in my part of Tx.

My 72 and my 22 both have 8274s. They are tough for sure.

Maybe we won't have to test it out on a deer!
