Why all this talk of SYNC? I've used SYNC 1, it sucked, my FiST has SYNC 3, I have no idea how good it is personally, I hear it sucks, I use Android Auto.

The Bronco will use SYNC 4 with wireless Android Auto and Apple Car Play. Why would anybody use SYNC when they'll have a wireless mirror of their phone on their dash?
Because Google Maps sucks and I only use it as a last resort compared to Sync 3. Sync 3 is always present, has a nice 'tone only' option, lets me access climate, actually *recognizes* what I'm saying, doesn't randomly go into OK Google activation, and didn't half-ass features like Speed Traps (can't report them in AA mode or while navigating at all, usually prompts after you already saw the cop...).

I actually like Sync 1 on my 2010. I don't get the hate. It has a clean interface and works well. Voice controls are a bit limited but it was a decade ago.

Come on man. You are worried about some video screen?
Do you want to play Animal Crossing in your Bronco or something?

I am very proud of the fact that my 2016 MT Mustang has a tiny 4 inch screen for a rear camera. That is it. I like driving it, not watching YouTube videos on it. I have an OLED TV at home if I want to just watch things on a screen.

This is my concern as well. It's a cool animation, but when I turn on the ignition, I'm ready to go. I'm not interested in waiting another 5-10 seconds for the rest of my car to boot up.
That's one of the worst things you can do to a vehicle is starting it and throwing it in gear and taking off. It's probably one reason they make the startup screens last 15-20 seconds, the engine/transmission need to have good lubrication distribution, oil pressure, and a decent operating temperature. Especially before running higher RPM's.

I hope we don’t need to wait for that video to end for the reverse camera to come up

LOL - in the old days we turned our heads and looked behind us ...

And the reason they have boot animation is to entertain you while the system boots (i.e., your other choice is a black screen while you wait).

You don't have to use Google Maps. And if you like SYNC great. My response was for those bitching about SYNC.

I liked the SYNC in my 2010 as well. In 2010. In today's day and age I find it useless, as everything I need infotainment wise is available through my phone.

To each their own.

Not to be confrontational, but that’s not correct. The worse thing you can do is let the engine idle at startup.
The lubricants aren’t under enough pressure to be pushed throughout the engine and transmission unless there is a load being put on them, ie, put it in drive and take it easy for the first minute.
Hence, the reason the owners manual requires more frequent lubrication changes to vehicles that have long and often idle times like a commercial vehicle or taxi.
Sorry for the interruption, back to the thread topic now.......

I'll address this comment in the general sense of members here, not just you, but it'll address it for everyone.

I'm not sure how many of you have newer Ford products, but the animation will start the second you open the door, so by the time you actually get into the seat ready to push the start button, it'll already be halfway through. That's how it works on my Mustang and my mom's 2020 Explorer and my dad's Raptor.
Granted, Bronco will be a bit different because of the ability to take the doors off, so I'm not sure how the animation will work then (I guess then it'd turn on when you push the start button?).

If you're starting your vehicle and immediately putting it in gear and taking off before the backup camera and other systems are even able to load up, I feel sorry for your vehicle and mechanic.

Just to be clear, I'm not saying I'm starting the ignition and then instantly throwing the car in gear and flooring it. But I'm also not sitting and letting the engine idle for a couple of minutes - most modern engines don't require the old school warm up anymore, particularly if you're only driving slowly with little load at the start. And I've had zero problems with engines/transmissions/etc. in my vehicles.

My point is that I shouldn't have to wait for a computer to finish booting up before I can use parts of my vehicle. Not the radio, not the AC, not the backup camera, and certainly not the engine.

@rmc523 Thanks, that's good to know and makes a lot of sense. I too will be curious to see what triggers the animation with no doors. Ignition would be obvious, and proximity might even be sufficient - since proximity will also be used partially to unlock the doors.

Sucks that it's not an OLED screen, would have looked sweet with pure blacks.
