Bronco Everglades snorkel removal idea when not needed.

I had a weird idea the other day realizing the snorkel on the Everglades is only held on by bolts and screws and came up with some ideas to share if interested or anyone hates the idea, and tells me NO that’s TERRIBLE.
But the idea is to make an intake on the side for when you’re cruising chilling daily, and still keeping the ability to throw the snorkel on it.
The idea is to use the two bolts which hold the bottom part of the snorkel, create either a prototype in 3D printing, and or just wing it with my own engineering to make what appears in picture 2 (just functional and not for show) to catch air.
Does this seem like an “yeah try it idea” or a “NO don’t do it idea” to you guys.

All for innovative solutions like this, but what’s the point? Either leave the snorkel up at all times or buy a non-Everglades model.

It’s just a random garage idea lol . Don’t get me wrong, because I saw someone else who asked in the forums.

Yeah try it. Many other things are modified or changed on these new Broncos. Plus in a year or two, used Everglades will start being available and 2nd owners may not be as keen on the thing. And that is if the original owner leaves it on.

I think I will! Me and my wife love our Everglades and we take it through water and mud the same camping, but we noticed when we daily it while on “off season” from camping. The poor snorkel just feels oddly out of place lol . So my idea was to go steal a fender vents from a raptor and slapping it over the hole of the removed snorkel. Which in turn became an idea of inspiration having seen a lot of Everglades owners wondering if someone has made anything like that. I maybe the first .

See I thought the same but then again, the Everglades has had the snorkel intake backwards this whole time. I was curious if it actually would affect the air sucking in??

As for the rain, I have established a way it’ll drain water out so that won’t be too bad of an issue . So I hear you there.

hmm, If you data log and see if it increase IATs, that would be very interesting. Or increase airflow by x amount. Could turn into a cool new mod idea

This is true! I’m unsure if it would help my lil ole V4 but hey…. 300 hp goes to 310 hp, all these horses but no where to gallop !

Let's be honest--for most is the snorkel ever really gonna be needed-- but on the flip side what's the down side to just leaving it as is

You can always take your snorkel off and give it to me. What you do with the hole afterwards is your business.

e: I'll be borrowing that snorkel-off picture, because I really would like to fit an Everglades snorkel - I've been following a thread from @pandapaul about their Badlands install. If any 'Glades guys would be willing to assist with questions, pictures, or measurements, please shoot me a message.

Fun fact: snorkels were originally designed to keep out dust, not water. That's why the inlet faces the rear.

I thought of doing this also when I first got mine. I got use to the snorkel and have fun making my own custom decorated face plates for it and don’t see any usefulness of removing and making a different intake.

Upon further testing today; I have concluded, the snorkel will be staying!
It’s just a bit too difficult to get things all accurate in making a vent like that, so I may join you in just customizing my face plate on it, that’s really a good idea! You should monetize on that idea lol
