BUT - my tire bumpers weren't installed correctly either.
Was there an air gap between bumpers and tire? Or something else wrong?

Your post started out reassuring, but then just reinforced my concerns at the end. šŸ˜†

Yup that was it

Dealer had installed new wheels and tires with a lift kit, trying to get the manual Bronco off their lot. New offset rims. They did not replace or adjust the spare tire bumpers though and I didn’t know at the time to think to check. There was a very sizeable gap.

Thanks. I can totally see that being the cause.

Has anyone done this? If so, pics please.
All of ford bronco hinges are painted body color … because they are assembled before painting. Including BRaptors

I have purchased the ford raptor kit and figured since you cannot really see them I would just paint the shield…

@Q1svt : Just to clarify, this is the part I’m talking about color matching:

Although on the Braptor version, it might look odd with the texturing. I’d have to see an example first. What @Hbrichman posted was more what I had in mind.

… okay , I painted my front plastic bumper tow hook cover but in a Braptor silver ish. Was going to also paint that support the same silver.

You may already know it’s plastic, with an internal thin metal support. Like all vehicles plastic parts, it’s paintable just need a flexible additive that helps adhesion and helps paint to be flexible. Like with plastic car bumpers… some paint suppliers can mix your color with the additives for plastic in a spray can.

With a textured plastic piece just need to not over paint it.. it will fill the texture. Personally the texture is very fine and will most likely be lost/smoothed out, the deep channels will be fine...

Since I am going with a fuel gas can carrier, no one is going to see that BR support piece, decided to not use the Braptor one, just fab an AL piece.

this is just the normal plastic cover not a Braptor one
