Best real-world MPG achieved?

Ok, I might get some flack for this, but: I'm looking at picking up a '25 Bronco Outer Banks, but am concerned with MPG.
I would likely get a higher end intake system (Roush or K&N), look into weight-saving parts I can swap out, and drive in Eco Mode as much as possible with a light foot.

Has anyone else tried improving their Bronco's MPG, and if so, what were your results? I've love to be able to get around 25 MPG, but I have a feeling that's not possible.

I can get 23.5 mpg highway and 21 around town on my 2023 Outer Banks with a 2.3 litre/10 speed. I too have a light foot and that's driving the speed limit in ECO. My rig includes OEM roof racks, tire upgrade to BFG 275/70r/18's and a 1 inch lift in both the front and rear which I wanted, to maintain the rake. Maybe without my upgrades you can come close. Another thing I noticed in my driving was that at least in my experience, stations branded as top tier actually did result in better MPGs. When I use Shell or Mobil, I can easy get 23+ if I use BP or another brand it drops down to around 21. Maybe the local BP just has crap gas, but I have noticed I get more miles per tank with Shell or Mobil

4-dr (2.7 auto, of course) Badlands with SAS using everyday regular juice:

17+ mpg in exurban/rural short-trip driving. Wouldn't be surprised to see 20+ on our next highway-ish trip.

Seriously though, I put MT Baja Boss At's on my HE and I'm getting 16.2 MPG avg. That's HWY/City/Off-road and they are about equal in engine hours to date. I'm not going to complain though, in fact I really don't give it much thought. I bought it for its off road capabilities and not as an econo-box.

I get 23-24 with my outer banks, 3:73 rears and 255 70R 18 tires, if you get the sas package with 4:7 or 4:3? You will not get the best mileage.

Believe it or not, due to the taller tires you really aren't turning many more rpm with the 4.70 gears.
The rolling resistance and weight are more of a hit to fuel economy.

23 4d base Badlands (33" BGF KO2's and 4.46:1 axle.)

We road tripped from Omaha Nebraska area to just west of Detroit this summer. Bounced between 87, 88, 91, and 93 octane depending on what gas stations had.

1500ish mile round trip netted an average (on dash) of 20.8 mpg. Best I saw was 23.3. (On dash.)

I suspect you could net 25+ out of an outer banks with the 3.73's and 32s if you drove diligently.

Wife regularly sees between 19 and 21 on her daily commutes depending on fuel grade.

IF you get a bronco, I'd advise to stay away from a dished wheel, get low rolling resistance tires, (if you're going to freeway it often,) and do what you can to hypermile it.

I've always wondered what could be benefited from doing something like semi trailers do with those stupid looking air deflectors on the back.

Laugh all you want, but there's someone out there that is crazy enough to try something like this. It's just not me!

What's the reasoning as to why the non sas bronco was more fun to drive? I'm genuinely curious! I had a 21 base (4 door) 2.7 and hardtop and loved driving that on the road. I'm waiting for delivery of a 25 HE 2.7 4 door

The non-Sasquatch big bend 2.7 was a dramatically lighter vehicle even though the physical size was the same. It was very quick stop light to stop light. I P. O. a guy in a Porch at a lane merge With the smaller tires it could turn easier in parking lots and zip in and around traffic with real ease. It was not a sports car by any means but could take turns at speed without much worry. The Sasquatch does feel a bit tippy on exit ramps at speed. The turn rad. is not as dramatic. I wish I could have kept both My best recommendation is to test drive both of them (fast) at a dealership before ordering. Good luck- BTW- Off- Rodeo NH is amazing. I highly recommend it.

I appreciate the reply! When I had my 21 base 2.7 4 door, I definitely enjoyed the quick throttle response and have to confess this shit was way more fun to drive than the 2018 wrx (stock) I had previously lmao.

With that being said, I'm actually looking forward to slowing it down a touch and enjoying the ride on the sas-equipped Bronco. I also plan to get out to the local national parks and other off-road areas as much as possible.

Thanks so much for this -- now you've really got me thinking if I can squeeze into a 2-door with my gear. UGH, I just really want a Bronco. Noted on the Badlands and Sasquatch. My wife has a Bronco Sport with the Outer Banks trim and it's really nice -- I'll likely go that route for my full-sized Bronco.

The best advice I could give is test drive them at a local dealer before ordering. I actually bought my first one on a whim-- I had a car at the dealer for an oil change. Test drove one on the lot while I was waiting and it was a blast. Even more fun than the Mustang. I bought it right then. My wife was surprised to say the least. To be honest though I never actually driven the 4-door. The 2 door is a fun ride on or off road.

hand calculated average over 19 tanks is 21.1mpg. Can’t seem to get above that consistently.

I love my standard Badlands for the same reasons, it feels lighter and tighter! A tire swap on the Sasquatch probably makes a difference though, those good years are not at all good

Got 24 mpg on a 5-state road trip late September. Nebraska, Wyoming, Montana, Utah and Colorado. 7 MT, 2.3. Stayed in 5th gear and around 68-69 mph which is about 2500 rpm. Very little turbo engagement. And every fill up was 91 octane.
