Best real-world MPG achieved?

Why not just get something significantly more suited to your primary need (space and MPG) instead of neutering a perfectly good offroader and making it a dork-mobile trying to eke out incredibly marginal/trivial gains for mileage? When Grandpa tells you he got 25mpg in his 6th gen he didn't have any fun doing it i promise

and this is why you don't give a hoot about the fuel usage. I know I don't.

BTW, sport mode seems to do a better job for us than does eco.

Ha! Not a musician. My situation is more like: "Video Professional: Someone who loads $50,000 worth of gear into a $65,000 car to drive 200 miles to a $10,000 gig."

Sport Mode does a better job in the responsiveness and the overall feel of driving, but is garbage on MPG.

I owned 2 Broncos.. Both 2 door with the 2.7 engine. The Non-squatch Big Bend averaged 22 mpg over a range of 36,000 miles. 50/50 city highway. The sasquatch with Badlands frame is getting 19.7 average... If I really try I can eek out 19.8, ... Both only used 93 premium gas.
So if milage is that important I would not get the Sasquatch and/or the Badlands model. (heavy plates under). Good luck with you purchase.. I love mine and it has been a lot of fun I don't think 25 Mpg is possible without a LOT of weight reduction and maybe gearing changes??? On a good note I found in my own opinion.. The Non-Sasquatch model was so much more fun to drive on the roads. 'There are a lot of current deals out there on the leftover 24 models and may be able to score a deal on one of those.

Thanks so much for this -- now you've really got me thinking if I can squeeze into a 2-door with my gear. UGH, I just really want a Bronco. Noted on the Badlands and Sasquatch. My wife has a Bronco Sport with the Outer Banks trim and it's really nice -- I'll likely go that route for my full-sized Bronco.

fuelly.com might help you figure out what trim, engine, transmission can get you the best mpg. I would assume 2.3 with the smallest tires and least amount of options would help. I know my 2.7 Sasquatch barely squeaks out 18 in town and not much more on the highway.

I've seen absolutely no difference in MPG between Sport and Normal modes, at least according to the lie-o-meter. I run 91 octane typically from 76 or Shell.

So, I’ll share my experience as to why I think 25 mpg is possible. I have a 22 basemansquatch that I drove on a 1650 mile road trip from Las Vegas through mountains into the ND averaging 68 mph (24 hours with engine running for 1650 miles) and got 19.6 mpg overall. A lot of the driving was in excess of 80 mph. Around town I regularly get 21-22 mpg and use 10% ethanol fuel. If I had smaller tires and used ethanol free fuel I would probably be creeping toward 24 mpg. Overinflate tires and a couple other hypermiling tricks would probably net your 25mpg goal.

Ok, I might get some flack for this, but: I'm looking at picking up a '25 Bronco Outer Banks, but am concerned with MPG.
I would likely get a higher end intake system (Roush or K&N), look into weight-saving parts I can swap out, and drive in Eco Mode as much as possible with a light foot.

Has anyone else tried improving their Bronco's MPG, and if so, what were your results? I've love to be able to get around 25 MPG, but I have a feeling that's not possible.

Maybe with a 2.3 4cly and stick shift and hypermiling driving , it might work.

I have a 22 BB 4 door. 21 MPG with 2.3. I don't believe 25 MPG is in your future with a Bronco.

I have a 72 km round trip to work and am lucky enough to have 95% of that drive on 4 lane divided highway. I'm driving a 2 door Black Diamond with 7 MT. I've had it for just over 2 months now and have noticed that the Eco setting is worthless on the highway and I get better mileage on the Normal setting while highway driving. (Probably why Ford has it set to default to normal after every start cycle) I run 87 Octane Top Tier gas and the best mileage I've ever gotten was 10.2 L/100 kms (23 mpg for you Yankees). The average since I've owned it though is 11.3 L/100 kms (21mpg).

I never bought it for the mileage. Like others have said, It's a flying brick but I love driving it so much that I'm considering getting rid of my Mustang Summer car in the spring. Which should speak volumes about my opinion of the Bronco because that car was like my third child up until I got the Black Diamond.

2023 Heritage Edition 2 door manual.
I have charted over 25k miles.
The biggest hit to fuel economy is speed and head winds.
Second is being in boost pulling hills.
The best I have gotten is a little over 22.5.
Average is just over 18.5.
I run 89 octane and sport mode.

Everyone will jump on this and say I'm full of it...but I get 29mpg around town with a two-door 2.3. I stay out of turbo, don't need it until freeway. I don't race to the stop lights. I go at or 10% above speed limits, but no jack rabbit starts. Hey with my old Wrangler I got 24mpg with same driving habits.

Most 4 X 4 trucks do not get good gas mileage- especially with the off road packages and large tires. I had interest in the Colorado ZR2, or even the Trail Boss and also Ranger Raptor. All are 16-17 MPG. It's the engine size, 4 X 4, weight and tires that are the cause more than brick in the wind I think. I just bought a 2023 Chevy Colorado 2WD with the low HP 2.7 turbo (not the high output one) as my daily driver. I average a respectable 33 MPG. It's slow but I needed the MPG for a 70 mile round trip daily work commute. This is why I think the bare bones base 2 door Bronco with small tires and manual will get 30 MPG with a light footed driver.
