Barnes needs to go back to the drawing board on the Bronco. I refuse to buy skids without pictures of used ones. The biggest issue is they are designed for a V6 Bronco with a sway bar disconnect, multiple designs are needed. I wrote them off after seeing Matts Offroad Bronco, Heffe got hung up on everything.

Exhibit A is just plain shameful

Exhibit B is the only actual picture I can find of the product.

There are pictures of the new ones in the install instructions too, But no pictures of Used ones anywhere I can find either..

Yeah, That tranny skid hangs way down to accommodate the v6 frame braces.

could get much better clearance with one designed for the i-4.

Ohh man the instruction are a gold mine! The fuel tank skid is lacking shear strength. Probably could drag that thing off since it only has 3 good hard mounting points. These need some gussets. Mild steel is pretty easy to bend. Still think the stock fuel tank skid is the best option.

Agreed.
I am a Barnes fan on their shock mount skids and some other parts.
My shock skids have taken more than one enthusiastic hit.
Their ARB dual mount for the engine bay is a really good item for the price point.

But this definitely needs gussets, and I would go as far as saying some longitudinal reinforcement inside, even if it is 1/4" (3/8" preferred) flat bar skip-welded on-end.
Wouldn't HAVE to be wide necessarily, just some good support end to end. My factory tank skid is banana-shaped more than stock. And I am actually quite impressed with the damage it has taken and isn't in worse shape.

Even better would be some threaded holes for UHMW-cladding.
One of these days I am going to UHMW all of my skids.
The Trans crossmembers have done really well with it.
