Badlands or Wildtrack

Locking at getting a leftover 24 in the next month or two. Trying to decide between the two. Know the wild track comes with the Hoss 3.0 suspension and steering rack and from what I kind find the Badlands comes with the Hoss 2.0 and standard rack, which is known to give issues if wheeled hard...primary use will be as a DD, light towing, moderate wheeling maybe twice a month...have 30+ years off roading experience in 1st gen broncos...currently have two of those, but neither will see much off road duty.

I would buy the Wildtrak over the Badlands to have a more unusual (rarer) truck.

Do you happen to know if the Heritage Limited also gets the 3.0 rack since it's based on a BL?

As said, 24 Heritage Limited has 3.0 rack because it’s included in the 24 Sasquatch package. All Heritage Limited come with Swaybar Disconnect since they are based on BL.

You obviously have not looked at the torque numbers or a dyno sheet.

Have looked at both a few times, the power potential of the v6 dwarfs the I4.

The Badlands is better equipped for trails. It gets all the skids underneath, plus steel bumpers. Maybe not modular front but that's easy enough to find, or source an aftermarket one. Also has a bit of reinforcement in front of the lower trailing arm mount on the frame.

Black Diamond is similarly equipped, last I checked. Skids, sliders, bumpers. I think most, maybe all 24 Broncos got the mgv interior. I haven't been on B&P for a while so do some research to make sure.

For your stated usage (primary use will be as a DD, light towing, moderate wheeling) the Hoss version is likely irrelevant. Leastways I wouldn't get too hung up on it compared to other features.

V6 is a must....probably only mods I will ever do would be good rock rails, winch, leveling kit and real 35's...I have a Turbo S rzr on 35's for doing crazy rock crawling trails.

Ford Performance has clearanced the Everglades Warn winch at a great price with mounting plate. I don't think it fits the bumper that's standard on WT? I think it needs the mod bumper, which you're more likely to get on the BL off the lot.

Also, although someone mentioned the skid plates on the WT, I don't believe most WT's come with them off the lot either, since they're an option and would need to be ordered that way by the dealer or abandoned. You can buy them from Ford, but I think like a lot of Ford's parts like this, aren't that easy to order. The BL comes with them standard.

Also easier with a BL Sas or WT to go "real 35", since they come with 34.5 tires standard already. I have 34.8" tires and no issues (BL Sas 2dr).

I'll repeat: IMO, these are decisions you have to make for yourself. The WT is "easier" to customize, the BL is more ready to rock (pun intended) at purchase but updating is a little more work or costs money again to undo (like changing plates or rock rails).

The BL with the 2.7 and mod bumper (Sas or non-Sas) is nearly identical, and if you're going winch, it's possible you'll end up getting a suspension upgrade like springs.

Not sure if it has changed, but if you want the SAS package, its included on the wildtrak and can actually save you money compared to an equally badlands. Our wildtrak has the capable bumper and I installed the ford performance winch with only a small modification. There's videos on it. Like stated earlier, it all depends on your personal preferences. For the off roading we do, a sway bar disconnect won't make a difference less than 1% of the time.

I honestly would shop price rather that BL vs WT. If you get a WT you can add the swaybar disco and Armorlite washout flooring easily. I like the idea of the disco being on a switch, so it can be used however you want. IMO, the Armorlite flooring is better than the factory washout flooring.

Just curious how much the flooring usually runs to get installed? Because if it's a few grand it would make sense to then go BL

When I got my WT, the high package was difficult to find on a BL. And that was my priority . That could be different now.

Added sway bar disco and skid after the fact. Not too expensive (‘round $1k) nor difficult. And I prefer having it controlled by an upfitter switch instead of the nanny computer.

Had ZERO interest in mod bumper because I knew it would be coming off and being sold for pennies on the dollar anyway.

about the only compromise I made was the washout interior. Would have liked that but not enough to give up what I got

No high package (the best $$-wise IMO) in 2024. I ordered mine (2023). However, everyone in 2024 gets the big screen. Might've gone for the mid in 2024, since Lux is meh for me.
