Im looking at putting a Baja Designs OnX6 50” Light bar on my Braptor. Please excuse my ignorance that may follow….

The BD install instructions indicate that the light bar should be wired to the Aux 1 switch and the second control to any other Aux switch.

My understanding is that the stock covered Rigid Lights use the Aux 1 switch and the uncovered fogs are switched by the regular headlight controls. Is this correct that only those covered Rigid lights use Aux1 ?

If so, Does anyone know why the Braptor would use the 30 amp Aux 1 circuit for what I would assume is a pretty low draw set of Rigid lights? Or has Ford swapped around the circuits on the Braptor and changed Aux 1 to a 10 or 15 amp circuit and moved the 30 Amp to another circuit?

Assuming that the Rigid lights can utilize a 10 or 15 amp Aux circuit and Aux 1 is still 30 amp, does it makes sense to move the rigid s to another Aux circuit and utilize the 30 amp Aux 1 for the OnX6 main switch and use any other unused circuit for the secondary switch?

Seems hard to believe Ford would hog the 30 amp circuit, when large light bars would need that more. But who knows…

Thoughts? Other recommendations?

Thanks!

I haven't looked at that yet, but you bring up a good question. Seems like you could switch the lights to Aux 2 and install the light bar on Aux 1, unless they made a change, which would seem odd. I’ll watch this thread.

I don't know how they wire up those rigid lights initially, but presumably they just put them on aux 1 for no reason other than assuming the purchaser may never install anything else. Those small lights don't draw more than 1.5A each, so move them on whatever switch you want.

Yes, if the bar is more than 15A you need to use Aux 1. You might be able to use Aux 2 by upgrading the fuse, but I caution against that, it seems the relay fed by aux 2 may not be rated for more than 15 amps. That said you could run a relay off any aux wire and run the light bar on whatever switch you want. You'd have a relay feeding a relay, but whatever.

Looks like AUX 1 for the Raptor is 10 AMP and AUX 3 is 30 AMP.

Exactly what I was looking for!

Good to know I don’t need to rework anything beyond connecting the light bar to Aux 3.

Much appreciated

I was curious too when I saw your question. I’ll be adding a light bar soon and possibly other lights as well. (I’ll be adding the 20” Heretic light bar and was advised to connect to AUX 2 [15 AMP]).
I looked in the manual which is also available on line And found that info. No need to sit in vehicle.

Always a good call to trust and verify.

Your chart is for the Bronco (excluding Raptor).

The chart posted by NJBronco is the correct “ Raptor)” chart. I confirmed this on the service content website that was where his screen shot came from.

Nice find. I spent some time under the hood and located all the wires. Expecting my wire connectors from SPV tomorrow. I haven't looked at the in-cab manual yet, but I hope it says the same thing.

Actually a 40" Bar fits better and we already have brackets for the 40" Baja Designs bar

Ford Bronco Aux 1 - Lighting Use Questions 1667360600775

With that said.. one pair of your factory RIgid fogs is on the fog light switch on your dash. The 2nd pair is controlled from Aux1, which is the higher amperage upfitter.

Ford did this on the Gen3 Raptor... waste of the aux1 if you ask me.

The 40" OnX6+ is 33.6amps, so you would not be using any of your aux switches to power it direct. So you can honestly use any aux you want as you'll be using it to trigger a relay harness for the light bar (which is part of our kit when a 40" bar is selected from Baja Designs).

NOW, if you wanna go REAL NUTS, you can do our 6x LP4 Linkable system. We designed this for a Bronco Raptor we are working on this week. We have a few extra kits in stock (it's our own bracket design and we built a few extra).

Here is a photo on our shop truck, but as I said, we'll be moving this to a Bronco Raptor this week

Just a quick FYI. The Bronco Raptor Aux switches are not the same as the Bronco. Aux 3 is the 30 amp on the Bronco Raptor.

By any chance does anyone know where to locate the wire for aux 1? I'm planning on removing the factory fogs and was curious if it will be just be stuck with the connector for the fog lights or if I can tie into it before then. Thanks.

You'd have a relay feeding a relay, but whatever.

https://www.bronco6g.com/forum/threads/aux-switch-2-ok-to-increase-fuse-to-30-amp.51739/
Braptor Aux wiring is slightly different due to the already used Aux 1.
