That was my assumption. So one of the following is true:

A) ADV has prioritized re-sellers over order-holders for quicker lead times; or,
B) Re-sellers expect to have inventory in stock very quickly; or,
C) The lead time is another over-promise/under-deliver
D) All of the Above

It's definitely C)

It's clear that ADV jumped the gun on all sorts of advertising (Instagram ads, their website, dealer promos/postings on their site to order). I'll leave it to people on this thread to decide as consumers whether they were aware of this and continued to string everyone along. The main source of truth for where ADV is at in providing finished product is word of mouth from actual customers on this thread. Anything else is B.S.

Have they been sending yall those updates every 7-10 business days?
Pretty sure that was a typo on ADV's part.
What they meant to say was "...updates every 710 business days..."

Clearly the hardtops don’t exist, it’s vaporware. Brutal to watch folks get scammed real-time.

I don’t have a dog in the fight, but this seems to call for something affirmative to conclusively determine exactly what is going on. This has gone on way too long without those who have been waiting with money long since committed to just kep hoping and guessing. This might be a candidate for a legal intervention to at least get some questions answered and possibly a class-action law suit to force the production of definitive information.

I don’t think there’s any grounds for a lawsuit as long as they’re offering a full refund. If anyone is still “in production”, it may be wise to consider that route before things potentially become more difficult.

Sadly, I think you right. But it is too bad that there isn't something that can be done to compel the company to explain exactly what is going on after all this time (especially when they continue to advertise and sell the roofs) that prevents them from delivering a product long since overdue.

Yeah I agree with you guys. This whole thing is really strange.

If it winds up being a complete scam it’s crazy they went through so much effort to make prototype tops.

Something on the China end went horribly wrong me thinks. Or complete scam. Heck idk hahaha it’s just crazy and I’m glad I never purchased one

Maybe a combo of producing something not in their core competency (not single wall fiberglass), along with remote production facility (overseas?). Even a big company like Webasto had trouble making a double wall bonded top. Hopefully ADV overcomes the difficulties and delivers a good top.

Absolutely right. Clearly they are new at this and tried to outsource w/o having any experience in international manufacturing or business. When you try and get something like this off the ground on a shoestring budget and w/o hiring the proper consultants...well here we are and you get what you pay for. Too greedy and the whole thing might collapse.

They should have kept building them in house while waiting on manufacturing to kick in. What they really should have done was start up just south of the border like TOR has done. Could have been onsite setting this up and overseeing production. Instead, they are trusting that manufacturing gets set up properly on the other side of the planet and are waiting on shipments to arrive before seeing if quality is up to par.

Every cancelled order is one that won't ever come back. The demand seems high right now but they have invested in a product that really has limited buyers when you think about it. Those encouraged to order a soft top have aging Broncos and they are about to get an offer from Ford for an OEM top. ADV's price point of $7k is too high for the casual buyer looking to upgrade. After this initial surge of buyers the product only justifies moderate manufacturing capacity at most. This isn't a mobile phone that gets replaced every two or three years.

Maybe not but they're still advertising and taking money for a product with a questionable existence. So with that said there still are possibly legal issues in question here based on principals and ethics rather than finances.
