Currently an unapologetic mall crawler until the new wears off. Got people at work that want me to get out with them (Toyota guys/gal) and I will. Soonish :ROFLMAO: Just want to enjoy it pinstripe and dent free a little longer.

I do love engaging with people who are enthusiastic about a product/pastime/cause, but "enthusiasts" that try to define it for everybody can kindly f*ck off. Once had the owner of a clapped out shitbox E36 M3 look over my FBO (and then some) '07 335i, then look me dead in the eye and say "couldn't afford an M3, huh?". That kind of soured me on the "cooler than you" crowd.

TLDR Enjoy your stuff as you please and let me do the same.
I look forward to taking my Bronco off road on basic trails but I'm just way too risk averse to true off-roading with a vehicle that I spent a lot of $$$ on. Mad props to the owners walking the walk as I respect the owners taking full advantage of the vehicle's capabilities. I wish I could live life as carefree but OCD is really difficult to shake.
I whole heartedly agree with these statements.

This whole labeling thing ("Mall Crawler" for Broncos) just seems to be more prevalent among the Bronco and I would guess Jeep groups. I just don't get why people need to judge others on how they'll use their vehicles.

In addition to my Bronco, I own two track capable vehicles and belong to several forums and groups related to them. I hardly, if ever, see comments where people are labeled for not tracking their cars in order to exploit them to their full potential.

Sure, on the Mustang sites there is the 4cyl, V6, V8, Manual vs. automatic comments. Same with the CTS-V sites regarding manual vs. automatic, but I can't seem to recall any comments where people are labeled like they are with the Bronco group.

While I have tracked my other two cars a few times each, I don't do it often. I guess like others here, I'm a little too OCD, not to mention I hate beating up my vehicles too much along with the expense of tires, brakes and the additional maintenance that goes with it.

I'm not looking to give off any image, I just like having the vehicles I own for the capability they have if I choose to exploit it, whether that be on the street, occasional track day or off-road adventure.

People spent the money to buy what they drive for their own reasons, let them enjoy their vehicle in the way it makes them happy.

As for my Bronco, I am no stranger to off-road capable vehicles as I've owned a few in the past. I am scheduled to do attend the Off-Rodeo event in June in order to better learn the Bronco's capabilities. That being said, I won't be doing any rock crawling or severe off-roading. I do like to camp, maybe some light to medium trails, but that's the extent of it. I fully realize that my Bronco is probably overkill for even that, but I'm OK with it and don't feel like I have to prove my worthiness of ownership to anyone.

I dunno, a mall crawler isn't a stock Bronco. It's an overbuilt never-go-off-road vehicle that has X amount of lift, unused gas cans and rusted hi lift jacks for the looks and never see any kind of off road situation. Yah, it's juvenile to make of folks who put $$$$'s of dollars into stuff they'll never use, but it's also not the end of the world either way. And anyhow, this thread was started making fun of people who don't think they're rolling hard in the eye rolls.

Lighten up! It'll be ok. Sometimes it's just poseur's tennis.

Mine is equally comfortable in the Trader Joe’s parking garage as it is in the dirt and snow. I didn’t know we had to pick one or the other.

Pretty much agree with what you said, and for the record, I wasn't really upset (notice the smiling emoji in my post). I get that most of the comments are lighthearted jabs back and forth.

I'd like to hear about where you went in American Fork Canyon. I tried picking some trails up there and found that they either turned out to be walking/hiking trails or basic dirt roads that a sedan could take. :(
That was a few years ago and I’ve slept since then, but we went up Miller Hill and Mineral Basin to just next to the back side of Snowbird/Alta ski resorts.

I could probably plot those in OnX sometime!

I’m with you there, I figure you bought it, do what you want with it! I just wanted to go to cool places. I’m scared to go to malls!

Don’t hold my phobia of malls against me!

Most people would swear my rig never goes off road. It Actually does a couple times per month, I just clean it up really well afterwards!
I keep it pretty light though. Mostly gravel and forest roads to access fishing spots in the mountains, and hikes with the fam&Dogs. I'll also do dedicated off road outings, a few times/year, but nothing crazy. If I look at an obstacle and think there's even a remote chance of damage, I'll err on the side of caution and avoid it.

When I got my 2-door, I initially planned on it being a mall crawler. I just wanted something that had 4x4 for winter and was fun for the summer. Always was a Ford fan since I was a kid so it just worked out

But owning my first 4x4 SUV/truck has got me itching to get out there and explore as I've never been able to before. Love this thing, she can handle some scrapes and chips, and mud just adds character.

I'm with you on that. I hate going to the mall, can't remember the last time I went. Nothing but zombies driving around the parking lot and walking inside.
