Replacement #1 was not through insurance, used local high rated provider, OEM replacement - no problems (rain, wind, dust etc.). Minimal recalibration needed. No complaints.

Replacement #2 will be happening in the next day or 2. 1 week ago, picked up good size "star" rock chip on freeway. Decided to use insurance - free fill. Fill proved unsuccessful and next day (hadn't driven yet) a 10 inch crack occurred. I am working with them now to get a new windshield under their guarantee.

Stay tuned as to Replacement #2 success.

Also, stay tuned for the guaranteed "Replacement #3" (I live in a hot, windy, dusty desert area and we grow the best windshield cracking rocks in the country)! 🤣
what recalibration is needed?

what recalibration is needed?
Mostly the safety focused (and some other) electronics (camera in RV mirror being one item) that use the windshield for sensing. IMO, "recalibration fees" charged by window people are greatly price inflated for the level of effort,

But, unless you know what is needed and/or have the right testing gear, you could wind up without lane change warning when you needed it most.

Some driver "veterans" will claim that you don't need to recalibrate . . . but they won't be around IF or WHEN things don't work right.

I "negotiated" the recalibration fee down to something I felt was fair . . . and I still had their work guarantee (for what that might prove to be worth).

I got a huge crack in my windshield 6 weeks after I got it and 1 week after spending $200 on windshield tint. I was also very annoyed and didn't get the tint replaced. That was in 2021 and 2 years 10 months later I'm still on that second windshield with no chips.

I went to the Moab Offroadeo in 2021 a couple weeks after getting the windshield replaced. Of the 20 people there that day only me and 1 other guy had received our Broncos. I asked him about his windshield and he said it cracked on the way home from the dealership.

So maybe it's bad luck? Maybe a bad batch of glass? Who knows.

Well, that's great news on the 2nd windshield

I'm avoiding all highways until further notice and any time I see a truck I pull way to the right in case

Yeah I was afraid I'd be getting a new windshield multiple times per year. It had never occurred to me that might be a problem until I saw here on the forum that Jeep owners are familiar with this. Then I started noticing almost every jeep I see driving around has bullseyes on their windshield and a good number of them have cracks.

Here in Arizona it's common to get glass coverage on your auto policy, for like an extra $5. My Ford Dealer is usually able to replace with factory glass under my insurance (San Tan Ford, they also have the Bronco Experience Center showroom)

I just don't want to go through all these horror stories about a pillar damage seals not working etc

Good to know ford dealer will replace.

Mine came from dealership with cracked windshield which was replaced by dealership. That one lasted 9 months, scheduled replacement a few weeks later. On drive home with 3rd windshield a rock hit and broke that one.
So, less than a year and my Bronco is on its 4th windshield.
