If the cost of this exoshield is $600-1200, and you replace if hit with a rock, what is the benefit? Paying for new exoshield film vs windshield replacement. I don't see the cost or time savings. I like the idea, but at that price, what's the benefit?

Price has dropped from 1200 to 600 and I am sure you can find less than in Scottsdale. The crack I got in the Mini was 1 in a Million but they say they need to be replaced every 3 or 4 years. Track car I can see it. Street use, you are correct it doesn't pencil if you have zero deductible on glass.

Tinted Windshield getting replaced after only 3 weeks. Tint will cost me $250 to redo. Thinking of putting Exoshield on the exterior of the windscreen this time around. $600. I have State Farm Insurance and I thought it might be a hassle getting factory glass. They gave me a list of their preferred installer but said factory glass would need to be approved by SF. I said the rigs 3 weeks old and factory glass is going in one way or another. I called American Glass in Scottsdale and said bring it in 3 days. I said again I want factory glass if that is going to be a problem call me. I read where it can take a month to get it so I was worried of what they could get so fast. Dropped it off this morning. Factory glass and then need to reprogram the lane detection stuff right after.
Exoshield has a self install kit, isn't that an option, I put a new windshield in my 24 wildtrak at 1200 miles so I feel your pain and am seriously considering the Exoshield self install

I'm in this camp - plenty of posts where people still get cracks with the exoshield, and the "warranty" that exoshield gives doesn't cover the glass, just the film, so... useless. I think it would help against pitting and such, but not convinced it would really save a windshield enough to make it worth the price of an entire new windshield itself. I think you'd be almost as well off with just the ceramic film, and at least that provides a solar/heat benefit and at about 1/3 the price.

Last windshield I had go the rock came in like a bullet and nothing was going to keep that from cracking the glass.

I was in a VW Passat and a piece of 12 foot long metal channel came off a truck and bounce over the trucks flat bed trailer and I took a hit length wise direct hit into the windshield right at my head. I was starting to dive under the dash but didn't have a chance. Thought it was taking my head off. Had a small dent in the hood and it bounce off the glass and went over the top. Window was shattered and first layers were dented in but it held. I made sure the same VW Glass went back in that car.

My ExoShield installed was $550.00
What does a new windshield cost installed and calibrated? $1,000.00?
Besides, there is nothing like a factory seal and the only time I had a window replaced (on a car) the installer while using his knife to cut the broken one out...cut the crap out of both A-pillar plastics.
I don't need the aggravation. With ExoShield installed, you may be able to take some hits with no damage to the ExoShield either. For me, I consider it insurance.

took all back roads and side roads today to avoid the highway. Literally dreaming about rocks destroying my windshield now

No authorized installers for the Exoshield near me, so not an option anyway

it's funny, I have mostly leased my cars so it hasn't been a care for me, but I bought this bronco, and when I was first out of school I bought my first car, an Impreza WRX in 2005, and 2 weeks in a rock destroyed the glass. I believe I posted this story, but the installer didn't order OEM and I had to get the glass fixed twice. WORSE, the installer was SMOKING the entire time with my windshield off and all the good car smell was replaced by smoke.

So now you can see why I am so PTSD on this.

I do have full replacement coverage on the glass, so it will all be about the installer if/when it happens

That would make sense in your situation I think. But my windshield replacement is free and I haven't had any issues with replacement on Wranglers or other cars I've had. Guess the answer is... 'it depends'

Mine cost my $200 deductible, but even before that it was $650 with calibration

how were the replacements, did they screw up your car in any way? is the seal still good?

Replacement #1 was not through insurance, used local high rated provider, OEM replacement - no problems (rain, wind, dust etc.). Minimal recalibration needed. No complaints.

Replacement #2 will be happening in the next day or 2. 1 week ago, picked up good size "star" rock chip on freeway. Decided to use insurance - free fill. Fill proved unsuccessful and next day (hadn't driven yet) a 10 inch crack occurred. I am working with them now to get a new windshield under their guarantee.

Stay tuned as to Replacement #2 success.

Also, stay tuned for the guaranteed "Replacement #3" (I live in a hot, windy, dusty desert area and we grow the best windshield cracking rocks in the country)! 🤣
