What is the story with the hard tops on the Broncos when it comes to warranty? I love the look of the (2) doors and thus they have the MIC top. Are these tops only covered by the 3/36 warranty from Ford or are the tops covered longer? What about a Ford ESP (Extended warranty) not sure if that covers the top as well?

I have loved the Broncos since they came out but I bought a 24 Mustang GT in April of last year but I still can see my myself in a (2) door Bronco at some point. The Mustang is cool and it's a real hoot to drive but it's also kind of nerve racking with the way people drive these days. Needless to say I'm starting to look at Broncos again but not sure if I'll end up doing anything.

It does suck that the (2) Door selection for MY25 is now very limited as I'm probably not interested in a base model.

MIC top is 3/36. No extended warranty.

Wow I was afraid of that but thanks for the info. I know these tops aren't cheap either so this might be an issue for me. Maybe they'll have them fixed for MY26, lol:)

I believe there is another thread on somewhere on here that shows it's unfortunately made the same as the MIC, honeycomb cardboard. I've looked really closely at my MOD top and I swear I see a bit of honeycomb. It will probably last longer though since it's painted.
I found out from a Webasto employee that the inside is made of the same honeycomb material but the outside is a thicker fiberglass shell. MIC is a thin thermoformed sheet.

Yeah, that is the "version 2 painted HT" that I itemized earlier in this thread. Early MY'25 Broncos with the painted top are showing up with both the "unfinished" black interior and the newer white interior. Seems the best explanation is the early builds of MY'25 are exhausting the backlog inventory of painted HTs from MY'24.
That’s a bummer. The white interior looks so much better. The other reason could be that Webasto is producing the black interior painted roofs and Taijin is the other company producing the painted tops with the white interior.

Ford doesn’t give out that information. But they wouldn’t change the part number if nothing changed
I seriously think it was just talk, if is wasn't, where's the second factory that Ford said they were building...it never happened and I really don't think they did anything with the top since it's a Wabasto product.

What I meant was, did they address the problem or are they continuing to put those issue-plagued tops on the vehicles.
The MIC top on my 2023 2-door is now 2 years old and has zero problems.

I have no idea what you’re trying to say.
What was all talk? What second factory? And what does it being a Webasto product have to do with them making changes?

There have been multiple different part numbers now due to running changes. Part numbers don’t change for no reason, they change for revisions.

Does anyone know if any changes have been made to the MIC top for MY2025? I ordered a Badlands with the MIC top on Friday and I'm wondering if I should switch to the painted shadow black top before it's too late to change.
I haven't read past pg. 1, so I don't know where the situation is at the moment.

I can't help you with the MIC vs Painted problem. If the MOD was available for everyone, it would be a no brainer ... Mod Top all the way.
My 2021 MIC 2.0 has been fine.

Dual top for the win.
If you think you MIGHT occasionally remove the panels or the whole top in nice weather ... get the softy and swap over when you do your summer/winter tire swaps ... LOL.

I had a 4dr for a short while ... loved that soft top WAYYYY more than I thought I would. Was not bad in the winter either, but if I had my choices, I'd do the dual top option , zero doubt.
As much as the MIC sucks, the softy excels.

EDIT :
On second thought ... though my MIC has been fine, it is without a doubt a cheap piece of shit. You can tell just by handling it. Painting one is just polishing a turd.

Either order a softy (or order the dual option and sell the MIC) and get a TOR top. Probably best top available at the moment. Unless the armadillo catches your fancy.

What second factory?
At one point , there was going to be a second MIC factory built to meet demand. This came from a trusted insider source .. back in 21/22ish. Hell, there may have been news articles about it come to think of it.

Not to mention, at one point they were going to turn to another provider all together, but that fell through as well.
Again insider info ...

In the end, I was just looking at a mid-80's top a while back and it is amazing how well they seem to have held up over the years. Even the beaters here in the salt/rust belt, the fiberglass tops are the best part of some of these trucks.
Then comes the 6G top that has seemingly widespread issues and can't last beyond the warranty period. (heavy eyeroll)

But what does a second factory have to do with my original comment that there has been more than one version? That’s where I’m confused šŸ¤·ā€ā™‚ļø

LOL, I haven't been reading along that much. Just answered the question point blank.

But yes, I agree ... there exists multiple versions of the MIC.
According to urban legend, my 2021 Original Gangster from Dirt Mountain 1.0 is wearing a version 2.0 MIC top..... or so I was led to believe. I haven't ran the part numbers .... I just know I was stuck there for 2.5 months.

My god that is so pathetic.

Webasto & Ford should be ashamed of that.
And sadly the replacement came in damaged supposedly so I have to go pick it up tomorrow and wait for the next one to come in.

All MICs will fail. They haven’t changed a damn thing about them regardless of part #. I’m on my 4th one. End of story.

And I’m still on my first which looks as good as day 1. I understand the frustration of needing one replaced, let alone multiple. But it’s a stretch to assume they’ll all have issues. Many are problem free.
