I attempted to order a new 2025 Bronco Heritage model this morning. My dealer is a pretty small Ford dealership and honestly had no clue what they were doing.

They did not have access to the 2025 Ford Bronco ordering guides that have been posted throughout the internet this point. We attempted to use their ordering software to put something in, but it was giving back different options than what I could build and price on the Ford website (for the 2024 Heritage models).

I wanted a Heritage with the 2.3L and the 10 speed auto. In 2024 models, totally an option via build and price. In 2025, supposedly the dealer "found out" after I left that the 10 speed could only be paired with the 2.7L. Does anyone know if this is legitimate? I don't have a lot of confidence in my small local dealer.

Also, last year, Ford stopped Heritage ordering about a week in. I don't want to miss out if others are already starting to order.

Your dealer is correct. With the Heritage trim...
  • If you order the manual transmission, it will be paired with the 2.3L EcoBoost.
  • If you order the automatic transmission, it will be paired with the 2.7L EcoBoost.

But you can still get an automatic with the 2.3 correct? That's what the OP wants.

2.3 should be both
2.7 auto only

With the Heritage trim, no.

For 2025, you can get the 2.3L with the automatic transmission on the following trims:
  • Base
  • Big Bend
  • Outer Banks
  • Badlands (2-door only)

Wow ... I did not catch that then. So what do you think Fords big plan is? Seems they're pigeon holing the 2 door and the manual options to up-sell to more doors and more cylinders.

It's actually pretty simple. Some team at corporate sat down and looked at what was ordered/sold versus the lineup. 4 doors likely sold more overall, and most 4 cylinder vehicles were likely ordered with the manual. They then compared costs to continue to offer the variants that didn't sell well, and cut those back, while keeping those arrangements on trim levels that sold better.

It's strictly cost analysis after 'giving people what they want' for a few years. If they get enough pushback they MAY alter their plans and bring some combos back, but it's highly unlikely.

Off-topic: why is it that every so often I have to click back INTO the text box? Every now and then it will suddenly just...stop typing what I type.

Don't know.

My hunch is it is a reflection of sales numbers on specific options... plus a general desire to simplify the lineup. I know a salesman at my dealer said there was too many options for the Bronco for the average customer and not enough clarity around exactly which trims/options was best suited for a specific task. Wouldn't be surprised if Ford heard similar feedback from the dealer community.

I get the whole what sells sells and what doesn't gets cut but when you pigeon hole your offerings ... i.e. 2 door only in base, Badlands, and Stroppe but no upgrades in base except squatch, no 2.7 in BL and Stroppe only in one flavor that it appears most here don't like with top tier price. For the manual it's only base, BB, BL, and HE (but only 2 are available as a 2 door).

We all knew from the beginning that manuals and the 2 doors were about 15% each and some of those numbers overlapped themselves, obviously, but it just seems more than not that Ford's throwing up the last call flag on both since ultimately the base 2.3 engine will be moving over to the next gen from the Mustang which isn't available with manual and neither will the Ranger so Ford can check that one off the order form ... which leaves the 2 door next on the chopping block because everyone buys the 4 door (but of course they only offered it on the cheapest and the most expensive trims).

Yeah it's self-fulfilling prophecy unfortunately. The less people that buy it, the less configurations those options will be available on, which in turn leads to less people buying it. Rinse/repeat. Turns into a negative feedback loop.

For a long time smaller vehicles and the manual transmissions were kept alive largely thanks to the Europeans. But both Europe and China are moving towards EVs at a MUCH more rapid pace than we are here. (Nearly 25% of new vehicle sales in Europe are EV/PHEV, 38% in China, versus only 10% here in America.) So not looking good.

Problem across the entire automotive industry, not unique to one vehicle or manufacturer. And the only way around I can see is if we in America start buying those options again.

The order guide is an exercise in intellectual stupidity, it just is.

Why would you limit the Big Bend to the 2.3, but restrict the the Heritage to the 2.7 with the automatic? The heritage is just a big bend spinoff to begin with!

Thankfully this idiocy is not limited to just the Bronco. The 2025 Ecoboost Mustang lost the performance package... For no reason other than it was a really balanced car that handled great and still could run a 13 second 1/4 mile.

I almost could understand saying no 2.3 automatic across the board, but that's not what they did. This is design by committee at its worst.

True, unfortunately even Europe and China are only getting four-doors. I think Europe only gets the automatic.

Ridiculous and silly......but true.
And yet other MY2025 trims are available with the 2.3L + 10spd auto.
I own a 2024 Heritage Edition with the 2.3L/auto.
