Need some advice on the install of my Borla Stype Exhaust. Install was fairly simple, exhaust sounds great and has a little extra whomp for butt dyno. Exhaust is also shockingly quite at idle and around town.

Only issue I have is the big muffler under my bronco 2 door. It seems awful close to the drive shaft, brake line and the wire harness. If I position it closer to the driver side it comes close to brake line and vise versa. I’m gonna email Borla to confirm placement but it seems I need to slightly turn the muffler so it’s not flat or unfortunately get a different exhaust. Thoughts? Install and video guide wasn’t helpful.

That is pretty tight. I've been running the MBRP for a year and a half with no issues due to the heat so you're probably fine.

Agreed I’m very nervous about the clearance. Tried multiple different configurations and it’s tight all around. Worried if a rock gets flicked up near the brake line or going through woops and the exhaust shaking hitting drive line or wire harness.

I emailed Borla they claim that is how it’s “designed” and let us know if you have any rubbing issues. Which is complete 🐂 💩. You would think one of the engineers would know better but clearly Borla is not interested in customer feedback or even get their tires on dirt.

I am waiting to hear if they can ship me a smaller muffler. If not I just wasted $700 if no refund will be issued. What even ticks me more off is they call this the rock crawler exhaust and offers high clearance, which I do agree but they don’t show on thier website how close the brake line, wire harness, and drive shaft is to the wide muffler for the expense of added ground clearance. I should’ve ordered an AWE of Corsa. How simple can it be to just have a smaller muffler to clear simple mechanical stuff on my Bronco?

Hopefully I get this straightened out.

I did an "off the shelf" Borla Pro XS that was $110 on Amazon (center and offset piping). It's probably smaller than the one in the Bronco kit. I had it welded on for $50 and added a $90 stainless turndown to eliminate the factory muffler.

I don't expect you'll have any issues with yours, but if it gives you peace of mind to have more clearance, you could probably swap the one you have for a Borla Pro XS like on mine...

I went with the Thermal R&D over the Borla for this reason...the in-line muffler is much smaller and easier to place.

I haven’t had any problems yet with the large muffler hitting anything or with heat. Might get something else cus a bit paranoid how close it is. I slightly rotated it and seems good as it’s gonna get for clearance. I called Borla and they said normal and went through a bunch of bench tests and heat tests before releasing their exhaust on the 2 door. Time will tell.
