My build is in my signature. I do have a RC winch on the front and a DV8 full roof rack. I launch in Sand mode, traction control off, manual mode in 2nd gear and move it to auto. Power brake to 2,700rpm +/-.
Sounds like you’re launching properly and while you’re heavier than @Ducati1098 and myself you should have no issues hitting under 5 secs on E85. Do you mind sharing one of your HP tuner logs? Curious to see how it compares.

I will try to do this, but I'm not really sure how to go about it getting it out of the tuner. I really appreciate your input.

Just upload one of the final logs you sent to Adam for your E85 tune. Also, Adam should be able to tell you how much power he estimates you're making.

Would you happen to know how much the stock 2.3 bronco turbo flows? Just curious
I don’t. I’m not even sure if the 2.3L Bronco’s turbo differs from the Mustang or Explorer. Not idea how hard they can be pushed as well.

The pre intercooler IAT is tricked.
@burgerking I’m delving into my JB4 more now to get this temp comparison logged. How do you mean “tricked”? Is the post IC temp labeled IAT, and POST IC temp is labeled something different (in the JB4 world?)

In the JB4 logs the IAT is always 10.3999
There's a few different temperature sensors you can log with the procal. I should hook that up and see what they say.
My IAT log is accurate; check your firmware or maybe ask Terry at Burger.
I’m in talks with them re: how they get IAT2, I’ll let you know what I find out.

I’m getting ready to test Injen air box open vs. closed on summer dragy runs.

Would love for some of yall to get the Wagner display like I had so we can make sense of the numbers it shows and how to make more use of it

The Ford PID for IAT is the same as ACT. It’s the temperature at the air box, right behind the filter. ACT2 is post Intercooler, the sensor is located on the charge pipe prior to the throttle body. There’s another sensor on top of the intake manifold that measures air temp as well, though I haven’t found a way to monitor via the ProCal. Just using HP Tuner’s logging software.

That is exactly how I got the idea!
@MWILD - on to a question about IATs since you look at them so closely, and I am still learning about these turbo engines as I get ready to dragy again now that the Ruthenium plugs and a few other mods are done. But even after reading tons online, I can’t figure out the intake air temps.

I attached a full log of cruising from cold to 100 mph and different speeds in between, with WOT punches, if anyone wants to look - had trouble recording boost but it was mostly off, 6-7 psi at highway cruise with brief peaks at 18 on flat high speed WOT. 82 ambient - one dashboard snapshot is included to show what i was logging.

One thing I noticed is that grille shutters for the IC are all over the place - closed, open, closed again, wide open - I need to disable those, I’m mostly blocking them with bumper and winch anyway. But the IAT2 numbers seem good in that they show very low 100s - about 20 degrees off ambient - and good recovery at all speeds when the engine is at temp.

But I see there is a 20-40 degree lift in IAT reading (from Injen CAI box, which is where I believe IAT is read) vs ambient. Almost always over 100 degrees and it likes 115-125 range; I read that 2.7L EcoBoost retards timing over 100 degrees IAT. I’d figure that CAI or not, on an 82 degree day on the highway I’d be pretty close to ambient. Or does the engine bay heat everything up so much?

I‘m curious to hear what you or anyone else thinks about the bumped IAT levels, and also if the computer pulls timing at 100 (and I wonder if there is a PID verify that).

Adam from ZFG told me when your IATs get in the 130+ range there's a potential for timing and or boost to be pulled. What he meant was IAT2 temps or air charge temps (ACT2). The temperature of the air, after the intercooler. On a hot day, it’s typical to see IAT temps well above 100 degrees after the engine has reached operating temperature. I have some theories, but haven’t tested them as of yet. One of them is the plastic intake tubing where the IAT sensor connects gets heat soaked and leads to elevated IAT temps, though it’s just a theory. I also think the air intake setup is more for water intrusion then it is geared towards bringing in fresh air. The BRaptor setup is much better and it’s factory intake is a big bottleneck when custom tuning.

Regardless, your IAT2/ACT2 temp are what you should be focused on. 20 degrees above ambient with moderate boost is completely normal for an aftermarket Intercooler. With the high mount CVF IC I’m testing now is seeing temps as low as 5-10 degrees above ambient. Mostly around 10 degrees higher on a hot day with moderate boost. Regardless of the IC, temps at a stop light on a hot day will be high, like 130-140 degrees. It's normal.

You may notice with the Injen box installed IAT and IAT2 temps are usually within 10-15 degrees. With the box removed and just the filter hanging like shown above. The IATs will be as much as 20-30 degrees higher than IAT2. I discovered I had a boost leak after installing the intercooler, so I haven't been able to test the performance difference of closed box vs. open box. I plan to do it soon and have my tuner look at the logs to see if there's anything worth changing.

Thanks for sharing those insights. And I looked at that IAT sensor location as well and wondered if it’s a hot spot, but haven’t measured it with a thermal gun yet. But you’re probably on to something.

Can’t wait for CVFab to finally release this High mount. Went below ambient with moderately high boost.
