Unless you plan to do forced induction on the 7.3 or build the motor, itās probably not worth the headache to swap. You can make more power with tuned 2.7L for a lot less money, but I know people love the sound of a V8 š
I plan to do a separate write-up on these parts, but just got in my ported OEM Throttle Body and Intake Manifold. Plan to install at some point in the next week or so.
Yes, itās a swap. Having done it myself, itās actually no big deal. The biggest inconvenience is having to program the new ECU with FDRS. I donāt think 5-Star has FDRS, so not sure they offer that part of the service.
Go for the intake that replaces all the tubing to each turbo. The OEM passenger side tubing is rather restrictive and there's dyno results out there on the K&N showing up to 16 HP gained.
IIRC, K&N, AFE, mishi, and Injen all replace the piping to the turbos. CVF is coming out with an intake...
Whipple tune isnāt going to change anything at a stoplight with a wrangler 392. Youāre gonna need a custom ZFG Racing tune if you want to compete.
Even then, from a dig a 392 is gonna be hard to beat. From a roll, theyāre not that fast. You can see in the video below, once they hit 95 they fall...
This.
That other Bronco Ducati is talking about is mine. I went back to the Dyno after installing my DPs and CPs and had the tune adjusted for both. Even with these two modifications I picked up zero max gains. I'm still waiting for the dyno files so I can see if there were gains anywhere else...
I'm actually currently running an E85 tune, but looking at this kit as way to drop IAT2 temps. I'm seeing them as high as 130s in the summer, even with a CVF FMIC. I don't expect to see any gains on E85, but wanna keep the HP I have. Worst case, I plan to revise my 93 tune to take advantage of it.
Thanks for the great write-up. I'm going to do something similar with my setup and I don't want to mount the tank and pump in my cabin, so I'll probably up using the stock windshield washer tank like you did. I also ordered the filter and grabbed the solenoid as well. I won't be using the...
It's hard to get the 2.7L to sound good. I have the CVF Turbo-back system, which is made of up catted downpipes, 3" cat-back with a resonator and muffler. After putting some miles on her, there is no rasp and all tone. Normal everyday driving she sounds deep and sounds okay when you go WOT.
20 lbs. extra on each corner is a lot, so you'd definitely be in the 12's with the stock tires :) @Ducati1098 went from his heavy 37's back to the stock 35" sasquatch tires and dropped half a sec on his 1/4 mile time IIRC.
With the E50 tune loaded, she's Definitely in the 12's with your...
That calculator is based on crank HP, not WHP. Doesn't your Bronco make 490 WHP w/the 93 tune? I would think with the stock 37" BFGs, you'd be dipping into the 12's.
Stock plugs are fine for the Ford Performance tune. The one step colder plugs shouldnāt hurt anything, but not really needed unless you turns things up a notch.
