As Big Jim said:
Standard 4x4 does not always turn 4 tires. Open differentials allow one wheel to spin if the other is getting traction. On a slippy road you can still have a 2 wheel drive vehicle even with the 4x4 button pushed. With at least one differential locked, you will have 3 wheels...
Tech inside the frame is an interesting idea.
We are hoping for Rock Slide Engineering step/rail.
Hopefully it will be just right.........we will be poor afterward but at least we can get in and out of the Bronco when we go rock crawling.
I just found these aftermarket crash bars. My Black Diamond SAS came from factory without crash bars so I have no concern about insurance of otherwise getting into trouble. If these are federally mandated, surely Ford would not be removing them..... maybe...
Both the F150 and the Expedition have a synthetic (sort of like the Bronco wheel wells) mat underneath the oil pan area. I have read that it is for sound control and improved aerodynamics.
One area of my Black Diamond that looks as if it will collect a bunch of snow is the area behind the 2nd...
The headlight rating is just the "safety" part of the total test.
My Black Diamond headlights are the best I've ever had.....we must not do enough curves???
All in all I'm encouraged.
If crash bars are vital to Sasquatch I think Ford could have easily made the insert piece curved toward the...
This video is informative.......I do not think it is an advertisement.
The 2 commenst that caught my attention is the one about things inside the bronco frame making drilling a bad idea and that most makers are stating that body mount rails are strong enough.
We watched the Expedition Overland series on Amazon. From the Arctic to south tip of South America....all on General tires. That series really spiked my off-road interest.
I was very interested in that very same tire. I know they are going to work for you!
What size did you get?
315. Thank you for your earlier comments. I knew about Mickey Thompson when I was in high school and he raced his Pinto. But until very recent I never gave his tires any notice.
My towns only dealer sells mainly GY, Cooper and Firestone. He said he sells a bunch of Mickey Thompson to the...
We went with the Mickey Thompson Baja Boss AT.
Why? Great reviews! 3 PLY sidewall. Agressive thread very much like Cooper ST Maxx, 50,000 mile warranty, good price, Made in USA, 3 peak snow rating, available right now, as quite as the Territory on highway, throws way less gravel, looks...
Sometimes a tire maker will make their 315 and their 35 in different E or D ratings.
If the E that I currently have proves too stiff/harsh I would consider the 35 if there was a D rated that I liked.
Reading about jacks makes me even more desirous to get the big heavy E rated tires.
Any penalty they give is better than the penalty of gwtting a flat on the side of a mountain.
I do appreciate all the ideas listed here as every tire can fail.
