I am ordering a Raptor, and will immediately take off the hard top to sell, to be replaced by a eTop. Anyone have any insight on the value of the painted Hard top (Black) v. the MIC as a takeoff? I will order whichever one I can net more for, to make up some of (or all) of the cost of the eTop. The painted is $1250 more to order...so trying to figure out if it will be easier to sell in that config and be able to sell it for more than that over the MIC.

Value is whatever you can get for it, so it’s subjective to your area.
I’m not sure why anyone would pay for a mic with all the issues, painted top would sell better in my opinion.

For sure you chances of resell on the painted top are much higher. MIC tops sell for a couple hundred dollars, and the market for selling them is very local.

Definitely get painted. Many would not buy an MIC. Should be pretty easy to get your money back if it will fit a non Raptor.

Couple hundred for a MIC? I've never seen one for that cheap. I don't even think you can get one of the half panels for a couple hundred lol.

To the OP, as everyone else said, it will be much easier to sell the painted top. Check out the classified ads in this forum and your local marketplaces to get an idea of what they are going for.

A lot of people probably want to upgrade their MIC top to a painted one, but are they swappable without any extra attachment points, etc.

Can someone take their MIC top off, drive to your house, put your painted top on and drive away?

Yes they attach the same for both hardtops, which is why a lot of early 6G buyers want Ford to offer the Painted top at a reasonable price separate.

I think you could sell a black painted hardtop really quickly through this forum. You could establish a minimum reserve price and open it up for bids.

The MIC would have to be really cheap to sell.

I would do a "sell and swap". You should be able to sell yours for $3500-5000 and also get the other person's MIC hardtop (as it never hurts to have a backup)

Ahhhh you are probably right. I was thinking in my head 2 door which are definitely less expensive. Probably more like $500 for a decent 2 door MIC.
