There was no oil pooling under the vehicle. I stumbled on the leak only after I removed the front bash plate, right behind the bumper, to do an oil change between factory recommended intervals (24k). I immediatly saw oil residue collecting on the top of the plate. Looking up into the front of the engine area, there are small dops of oil acumulating on the steering components, and up around the pan there is very obvious oil residue on the bottom of the pan and pooling around the oil pan bolt heads.

Thanks for the insight on this issue. If I do have this happen, I'm definitely going to consider and plan around the shenanigans at the dealership. That leak, in hind sight, is expectable with all things considered. So sorry for the trip.....that is frustrating and disappointing. I have that kind of lek on my other three vehicles and thus far I've been good with it. I know they are all decades older, but until it gets on the exhaust, and smells, it can be ignored. My wife doesn't want to drive the Durango now since it is burning oil dripping from the valve cover. That's why she takes my Bronco.......

Update: I was able to pickup my Bronco the Friday afternoon before my trip and had a great Colorado off-raod advenure. Footnote: The invoice ($0.00) does not seem to show a new front engine cover in the list of parts uses, so I'm not 100% certain if the Bronco was re-assembled w/o it just to get me back on the road, or maybe it was replaced and I'm just not seeing it on the invoice parts list.

I'll have to take some pictures and post the list, but I'm not seeing any 6019 part listed. Closest to that part number is a bunch of 6020* GASKET, 6584* GASKET. Lost of sealant, bolts, anti-freeze, oil dye and cleaner.

Original tech statement was leaking from the front engine cover seal and the front of the oil pan at the seal, but the second tech statement said it was a "bad" front engine cover that didn't seat right, which is why the dealer emergency ordered a new front cover. Last August, I had the front crank seal replaced and all of what is leaking now was re-done at that time as part of the re-assembly, so I assumed the second tech statement is true and that's why the cover and pan seals are leaking less than a year later. Either that or it wasn't done right last year. If it just needed to be re-done w/o the part, I'm find with that, but if the OE front cover is not flat, can't be properly sealed and wasn't replaced, but rather put back together w/o the new cover, then this problem was only delayed another 12 months when it will start leaking again.

Confirmed. Dealership indicated they have a machinest on staff that "corrected" the OE front cover and re-installed. Only time will tell if it holds. It was 12 months between now and the last time the front cover was sealed as part of the larger front crank seal replacement. If it shows signs of leaking this time next year, it's not gong to be a pleasant conversation if that comes to be.

Thank you. It was good weather. Nice and cold at night for tent sleeping and warm enough during the day to hike in shorts.
