My dad has a 2017 Lincoln Continental with the 3.5 turbo in it. Man that little sled will scoot1 Lives in SW Florida, cream colored, I call it the Golden Girl Cruiser. I've actually put my dibs on it if he decides to get rid of it, just because you can't find something like that anymore!

3.0*
But yeah they’re pretty quick for what they are. Plus they drive great.

My wife's 2019 Expedition has the 3.5. Good power considering that thing is a boat. Though it did need the cam phasers replaced. Luckily that was around 45K Miles while it was still under warranty.

I would assume at some point they’ll do a gen 2 3.0 and update it with dual injection. Although I thought they would’ve years ago and it’s still yet to be seen 🤷‍♂️
Ya know....

Maybe the 3.0L in the 2027 F-150 is in-fact the new 3.0L.

They did kinda do a "silent upgrade" of the 1.5L / 2.0L / 2.3L last year across the lineup. So I wonder if this is just a similar silent upgrade of the 3.0L.

In which case this all makes a lot more sense, and I assume 2.7L is getting replaced across the board with this new 3.0L (maybe not every vehicle in 2027, but eventually). And if the dude in @BilletWilson's screenshot knows what he is talking about and isn't making stuff up to impress the internet... maybe the Raptors are getting the HO version.

Yeah very possible. I’m looking forward to seeing more details about this engine when the time comes.

Some information-

The 3.0 and 2.7 are basically the same engine-just the 3.0 has a longer stroke.

The other thing (which didn't dawn on me till someone else mentioned a new 6 cyc is coming) is that you NEED 2 turbos on V style engines...so if there is a single turbo engine coming, that means one thing-its going to be an inline 6!
My 2003-vintage T444E Navistar would beg to differ... single turbo on a V-8.

In Ford parlayance, it's the 7.3l turbo diesel in that era's F250/350/450 series.

Has a single Garrett 38mm turbo right on top rear of the valley.

A dual super and turbo 3.0 inline 6 copying Volvos wonderful system that had virtually no lag and approx 1.4 HP /L should be good for 450HP 500 ft lb and decent economy these days.

Alternately they couls add electric assist to keep turbo RPM up to get rid of the lag.

Ford makes great V6s for ages now and should have learned how to do amazing HO charged inlines from Volvo.

A diesel isn’t an Ecoboost and vice vera. I can’t think of a gas powered V style engine that has a single turbo on it.

Drop what is considered one of the best ground up built turbo engines ford has ever built , interesting. Nothing from 2026 would be a good replacement, maybe a heavily reworked 3.0 in 2027 would do it

If the 3.0 is just a stroked 2.7, dropping one or the other makes sense, much like Ford dropped the 289 after they stroked it into the 302. Building 2 sets of cranks and rods makes no sense when so much can be controlled by the computer and tune these days.

Bore and stroke are both different
