I feel like theyre fasing it out based on the price jumps. It was $2,145 last year then $2,995 in job 1 of this year and now job 2 i believe its $3,295. Theyre planning something.

Yeah I think long term (maybe 28MY+) it doesn’t make sense to keep the 2.7 around for just the bronco/ranger though.
Unless they decide to put it in something else by then, but I don’t know what that would be.
I imagine some of the trims on the Explorer that currently have the 3.0L will get the 2.7L instead (Tremor, for example).

On paper in a vacuum I would expect the 2.7L to stick around longer than the 3.0L to be honest. 2.7L is dual injection, slightly newer design, probably the most reliable turbocharged engine on the F-150 today (though I haven't seen data). Meanwhile 3.0L is a little older and still direct injection only as far as I know (unless it changed and I didn't hear about it). Plus they also discontinued a lot of the Lincoln products that previously used the 3.0L

BUT... I also think the Raptor/ST trims on the Bronco/Ranger/Explorer are selling well enough that the incentives aren't there to discontinue the 3.0L yet. Especially now that they need it to go up against Chevy's new V8s. So... we'll see.

I would assume at some point they’ll do a gen 2 3.0 and update it with dual injection. Although I thought they would’ve years ago and it’s still yet to be seen 🤷‍♂️

Don’t think the Taurus will be making another come back lol
Didn’t ford want to make another cheaper sedan? I don’t think sticking the 2.7 in like a Fusion would be necessary or cheap when the 2.3 is right there but maybe for like a higher performance trim?

Id guess that any cars they potentially come out with in the future would more than likely be EV or very small 4 cylinders at most

Keep the 2.7 in the Bronco .Only drop if they decide to offer 5.0 Coyote [The NA 5.0 would be great as a Bronco option-Lots of low end grunt without turbos] Great in my 2013 F150 for towing + solo driving.Good on gas !!!

I could see Ford moving the 3.0 down to lower trims and dropping the 5.0 into the raptor to better compare with the jeep 392. The 2.7 was always the "tweener" engine between the 2.3 and the 3.0/3.5.
Pickups are going to be interesting though.... GM may take a big bite out of Fords lunch as personally, I'd take an updated 5.7 v8 over the 3.0 any day of the week.....even in a chevy lol...

It depends-

A Mustang Sedan is a very real possibility-it would require little engineering (in the grand scheme of things) and would help keep the coupe in production (would be on the same platform) and be able be built at the same plant (which has issues with assembly line/roof height that makes it hard to make crossovers/SUV there). I'm guessing that it would be affordable to, with the entry level models starting under 40K.

I've also seen rumors that Ford is supposed to do a Mustang CUV that would be basically a shortened D3 (Explorer platform) that would be an Edge replacement that currently doesn't exist.

The Mach E will go away soon (2030) also from the rumor mill.

The new UEV platform that is getting a pickup first, is also going to have some sort of sedan on on it in a few years, after the CUV version launches about a year after the pickup.

Some other thoughts about the 2.7-if Ford offers a hybrid 2.3L, that would roughly make the same amount of power as the 2.7L V6, so that would be another reason for it be dropped from the Bronco.

Also from what I understand CAFE is done for (well for at least this current administration) so I'd expect manufactures to offer bigger/more fuel hungry engines to make more profit till they have to comply with it again-offering what Is basically the same engine with no engineering changes to be able to upcharge the 3.0L seems like a no brainer of offering the 2.7L on the Outer Bank and Big Bend trims again.

3.0 with dual injection would be a beast with just an E85 tune and bolt-ons :) 575 RWHP??

Saw the 2027 F-150 order guide come across a Reddit thread today. The dropped the 2.7L for the 3.0, perhaps the Bronco will get the same?
I remember the same thought process & discussion when we discovered in 2020 that the new 6g Bronco was getting the 10R60 transmission from the Ranger, instead of the 10R80 transmission from the F150. It would seem like a continuation of that design choice to keep the 2.7 and 10R60 in the Bronco, and the 3.0 and 10R80 in the F150 pickup. After all, if they put the 3.0 in the Bronco, wouldn't they have to upgrade to the 10R80 transmission? Although, the Raptor has the smaller transmission (corrected).
