A rabbit bolted out of the woods in from of me-- with a Fisher hot on his tail. They run up the middle of the road in front of me. I sat there for a minute and decided to go and see what happen. Just as I started to roll the rabbit comes bolting back up the road. And yes the fisher was still hot on his tail. The rabbit runs under the bronco--but the fisher looks up and makes eye contact with me. At that time he puts on the emergency brakes and takes a hard right--never breaking eye contact as he runs past me. As soon as he clears the bronco he shifts back into overdrive on the rabbits tail. Unfortunately I do not know how that story ends.

I've seen someone steer a sedan with their knees while using two hands to eat a Tupperware bowl of spaghetti on the Long Island Expressway.

I've seen people reading books and magazines at highway speeds way before the time of self-driving cars. I've seen someone eating a bowl of cereal. I've seen plenty of road-head and one time I saw a couple having sex. At least 2-3 times per month I see a woman putting make-up on and/or brushing her hair.

One time my whole family was nearly killed by a crazy driver at 2am who lost control of his vehicle in a HOV lane, spun across the median and nearly sideswiped me at 80mph. I was driving a built and lifted R51 pathfinder and at the last second I was able to apply enough brake and skid sideways as the car passed across the 3 lanes of traffic right in front of me, so close that I could barely see the roof of the car. He crossed the lanes and crashed hard into the guardrail, launching the car up into the air and spinning around. It was pretty unnerving.

Unfortunately I've seen some horrible accidents where idiot drivers pull out and wreck motorcycles and the riders didn't make it.

It's a jungle out there.

Two stories come to mind:
I was driving my previous F150 to San Diego CA to pickup something. In the fast lane, I see a rat that looked frantic. It ran from the center divider to my front tire and I ran it over. Not sure if something was chasing it, or if it had other problems lol. The car in back of me pulled up next to me. Driver had a puzzled look, like 'DID YOU SEE THAT?'. I looked at him and mouthed the word 'GROSS!' with a disugsted look on my face, and we shared a laugh.

Around 5+ years ago, 4th of July weekend, there was a Ford Explorer in front of me on the freeway. I could see kids in the back seat. It was hot (around 105 degrees) and one of the tires blew out. She tried to counter steer and ended up rolling it around 10 times, 4 people ejected (likely no seatbelts), her 18yo son was killed, partially ejected. I stopped to help, but it was too late for the 18yo. Two other sons ejected, one with a broken arm. Husband was also ejected and seem to have a pretty bad concussion, wasn't making sense, etc.

I waited until the ambulance got there. Contacted her after. I used to be an EMT, so the mom and dad just wanted to talk and hear what I saw. They didn't know about the tire blow out. I could relate because I also have 3 boys.

lady eating corn on the cob wasnt the craziest I've seen, but certainly memorable.

Somewhere outside Miama a van's wheel came full off at speed and was bounding down the road. that was pretty cool

Man, I saw the Google autonomous cars like over 10 years ago in SF (specifically Palo Alto). Kinda wild people are just now seeing them.

Craziest thing I saw was a dog "driving". I think it was sitting on the guys chest, who was really far back and riding low to the extreme, but certainly did a double take.

I was on a Forest Service road in Kern Co., CA when a king snake slithered out onto the road moving really fast, and being chased by a mother quail who kept pecking at it.

I was on I-5 between Redding and Red Bluff in far northern California. The section I was in a hilly area, with southbound on one side of a grassy gully and northbound on the other. I noticed a loose tire far ahead of me, rolling at a narrow angle to the opposite lanes and dropping gradually into the gully. Hmmm.... Then it climbed right back up the other side of the gully to the lanes on my side. For a moment I thought it would hit my vehicle but it ended up going to my left.

This jumper I passed on the GWB going home from work. He's in the upper right hand side.

That's awful that life can get bad enough for people to do that. At least he's not trying to take anyone else with him. 😟
