I did exactly that when I got mine, then went to the dealer and they could not install it because they have no USB access, lol. All their computers are locked down and USB will not read any devices plugged in. Went home and did it myself.
They did say to come back for a "free" oil change, since they couldn't refund the $40. Yeah, no thanks, not going back to them.

That sucks.

Correction, South Bay Ford did mine. Not Galpin. Took less than a half hour.

If that happened to you around June 2024 it might have been because of the CDK cyber attack that messed up every dealership computer in the USA. I wouldn't doubt if some dealerships chose to "unplug" service computers from the Internet after that.

I’ve contacted every dealership around Denver. The cheapest I’ve been able to find for the install is $598. And that’s a minimum estimate. 2 hours estimated at $299/hr. Ridiculous. A bunch of dealerships won’t even do it at all. Gonna look for an ASE tech. I’m super disappointed by the lack of support of ford dealerships.

after looking around my area for options, I did find one dealer who would install for $350. But it took 20 minutes to do it myself....

This is late but in Boise they only charged me $100 for the install. $350 is outrageous. The tag said 1 hour labor. Maybe it’s just service costs are cheaper in Idaho.

"They" being a dealer??? Corwin in Nampa did not charge me at all.... I think there are a lot of Broncos here and they are all scrambling for our accessories money...

So Mitch, hove you checked out the FBI (Ford Broncos of Idaho)?? or are you the Mitch I already know? I just do not recognize "BUFF".

I had not noticed the BUFF.... My wife was Air Force. Worked in the vault at strategic air command working IT back in the early 90s.

Worst case, you buy it from Ford direct $962 installed at the dealer of your choice.

Just FYI it's 170,000 points. I was curious so I looked! If you got them heck yeah use them! And if you buy direct from Ford it says "add on" installation $112. That is crazy dealers don't stick to that?

what a racket..... I installed the whipple tune 2 years ago myself, it took 15 minutes and I got 60 hp.
