My November 2021 Badlands is still "rockin'" the original windshield without a single mark. 50,000 miles.

MY 22 w/ 38k miles. Original windshield, but just got the first crack a month ago under the rearview mirror. Semi-circular shape. Looks like a beer can got thrown at it.

😅 I came across yet another cracked windshield post this morning, and it got me thinking...

At this point, windshield cracks seem to be one of the most common topics in the Bronco community. Some owners make it years without an issue, while others end up with a crack surprisingly early.

Personally, I'm curious:

How long did your original Bronco windshield last before the first crack or major rock chip?

And for those who have already joined the "cracked windshield club" 🍻, have you found anything that actually helps?

I've seen owners mention everything from changing driving habits to hood deflectors and windshield protection film, but opinions seem to be all over the place.

Also, a bit of a selfish question from our side...

If Mabett ever looked into a Bronco hood deflector, is that something you'd actually consider installing, or do you think it wouldn't make much difference?

Interested to hear some real-world experiences.

I lasted 5 months and 3,500 miles on windshield #1 for a brand new late model year '25 Bronco. Still on windshield #2 at 6,700 miles and 8 months. 🤞

As a previous Jeep Wrangler owner, this is one area where Wranglers rule. Fold down the windshield onto the hood. Sure I may take a rock to the face, but as humans we are self healing while a windshield is not.
Science.

2022, still have my original even with the Union MAP sticker on it. Its been sandblasted on the 7 hour plane crash trail, and has a couple of fixed but still need to be fixed again small cracks/dings - ~50k miles.

87K km with origonal windshield and wipers. Windshield shows small "sandblasted" marks when driving into a setting sun from all the highway miles, but crack free.
I typically leave fair space between me and anyone I'm following so is that why no cracks, or am I just shiet lucky ?

New question,
How many people lift their wipers and shoot washer fluid before putting wipers down ?(if its been a while since wipers were last used...). I suspect I'm not the only one whose wipers happily go back and forth across a dry dirty windshield while the washer pump takes it time priming...

I would strongly consider a hood deflector that was a bit more visually appealing than the Aeroskin 2. I realize the bump is needed to deflect the air, but I don't like how it isn't a match for the leading edge of the hood. Also quite a few comments it's not wide enough. Should also cover the actual leading edge of the hood. Seeing body color in front or on either side just says "poor fitment."

Tt could be improved upon.

I had one those on my 2023 Oxford White BD for a little over a year. I noticed several spots where dust/debris was collecting on the windshield side of the Aeroskin. It irritated me enough that I spent some time trying to clean it out without causing damag to the skin or the hood. Gave up. Removed it, and to my disappointment, there were visable marks in the paint and very noticable "yellowing" of the paint under the skin.

I considered setting up an appointment with my body shop but instead went to work with Maguire's Cleaning wax. It appears to be a very mild abrasive. I'm very pleased with the result. 99.8% of the marks are gone and the yellowing is gone as well. As much I want to protect the leading edge of the hood, I'll never put another one of those on.

My 22 still has the factory windshield. I attribute this to Exoshield and a hood deflector. The Exoshield film has 6-7 nice gashes in it, no windshield cracks

Thanks for you feedback.

I got a quote to do full PPF on the hood and it was $800! I'll probably not do anything and just enjoy it as-is.

I’ve had two broncos. My first one, caught a rock the day after purchasing as I was driving down the highway. It cracked and spread so had it replaced.
My second bronco caught something a month after purchasing. Thankfully it was just a small chip and no crack has spread from it. I’ve left it that way and three years later it’s still the same.

My 22 still has the factory windshield. I had Exoshield installed about 2 weeks after delivery. I added a hood deflector as well

Curious, did you happen to have the windshield adhesion recall (Campaign 22C12)? That is one of my seven open recalls. It has a remedy, but the first dealership I went to said, "We don't do that one." Apparently it requires body work and they don't have a body shop.
When I asked my dealer's service department about that particular recall, my service advisor told me my Bronco was not affected by it. So, I'm not sure how the new windshield and its installation reduced the noise coming from that area.
