So the day before I was going to take my bronco in because of the ambient air temp sensor it started reading correctly so cancelled my appointment and will see what happens. The sensor I ordered should be here Fri

To answer an earlier question once you change the sensor the check engine light will turn off after a few days so you don’t have to mess with disconnecting the battery.

I have read that the dealers want to replace the whole mirror assembly in stead of just replacing the little $5.00 sensor. What’s that about?

Never heard of that. Just fixed one the other day. Simple sensor swap and it was on its way.
I don’t see Ford covering a whole mirror

I read it here on some other posts dealing with this sensor issue. Good to know. On my 19 Ranger had an axle seal leak so the dealer replaced the axle and seal. Said it comes as one unit. The days of just replacing a seal are gone, I guess.

Not on everything, just that specific axle. Most aren’t like that.

I just did the R&R. It set a ”permanent“ fault that the truck has to clear, but I used the bluedriver scan tool to reset the CEL (Check Engine Light). Pry free of mirror with flat head or spudger, then press in clip for harness with an awl to wriggle it out. Get the orientation right and the new one slides on and clips in.

No programming was required, but I did use my scan tool to reset the codes.
