Not an uncomfortable ride but it is definitely firmer
Check your tire pressure - odds are it’s running too high. Look up Chalk Test to find the proper pressure

Well I finally decided--LT285/75/17 (load C) it is. Looks a lot better. Now I had stockish tires before and to be honest these LT tires do ride firmer and you can really feel the road with these tires, especially on rough pavement. Maybe too much. Not an uncomfortable ride but it is definitely firmer like a sports car. Better handling and less brake dive though which is good. Took it offroad hard pack dirt and ruts and it is rough. It may be the stock Hitachi shocks. but going slow I was dipping back and forth in the ruts and the hits were harder than before with the nonLT tires. Currently at 34psi cold.

Maybe that's just the way it is and if so then fine. Otherwise, not sure if it's a tire thing or maybe I need to change out the suspension or maybe I just need to get used to it. Looking for a smoother on road ride since daily driver 95%/offroad 5% use.

Any suggestions or advise especially those with the base suspension who switched to larger LT tires greatly appreciated. Thanks!

I went from the base minivan tires to Nitto Ridge Grapplers 285/70/17 LT Load Range C on Method 305s. Your tires are part of the suspension. When going off road you can air down to soften a lot of the stiffness that you are feeling. I drop mine down to 18 psi when on dirt/rock/gravel trails and it makes a world of a difference. I also run my tires at 32 psi when on the road as the recommended 35+ psi is too stiff especially for the crappy roads that we have here in The Valley.

HaHa yes I hear you abut the crappy roads and potholes, fun stuff like that. Normal street pressure for me is about 33-34psi cold which is a good compromise. Below that maybe 32psi or lower handling gets heavy I don't like the feel as much with little change in ride quality going down lower on the street. Tried about 25psi on the rutted dirt roads going maybe 10-15mph and it was a rough ride getting tossed all over. Maybe I'll try lower psi that you recommend 18-20 and see if that helps.

Otherwise might be in the market at some point for a small 1-2" lift that still rides well on the street.
Thanks!
