All my fords have gone well over 200k and were sold still running. None of them had any issues before 200k mark and the stuff after that was not major.
The “ford has no reliability” is a myth pushed by haters. I’ve helped my friends fix there Toyotas more than I had to fix my ford trucks.
You can always buy the extended warranty just like all the Toyota guys do when they buy their Toyotas.
This. I have over 230k on my 08 Mustang, and it's still running well. I just got it back from the shop for it's first truly major work (found some timing components in my oil pan). The Ford I owned before it had 140k on it when I gave it to my sister who still has it. My uncle's a farmer and drives Fords exclusively and he's not kind to them. I know his Expedition has over 250k miles on it, because my aunt's had me drive her around in it. Ford's earned my trust until they give me a reason to distrust them.

The one Bronco model that has the least recalls...oh...wait up...there isn't one...
I only had 2 recalls on my 23 base and both were simple plastic fixes. Seat belt and sasquatch shocks. Built in Dec of 22 Now 3.6 years old.

One more thought, depending on where you live and plan to overland, the more trips you do the more confident / comfortable / adventurous you might get.

And then, down the rabbit hole we go…it can get a little addicting. 🤷‍♂️

Pick a trim that works for your needs, or start simple and build up if you find the need to.

Focus on your off road driving skills, which can do a lot more at times than a different trim.

Most of all, go have fun and enjoy your rig!
This ^^^

I had a friend who bought a Landrover Discovery and he asked my advice. I told him to do the upgrades as it would save him money in the long run but he insisted he wasn't going to do much hard stuff and so only prepped it for mild wheeling. Then as he got more experience he wanted more and thus had to redo a lot of what he had done the first time.

Looks like the conclusion after reading 6 pages is that the Op needs to get a Badlands.

Bang for the buck, my vote is a used Everglades if your going 4dr. Low mile ‘24 models are available in the mid $40’s.
No need to add anything for overlanding as it’s fully equipped.

The Bronco Raptor has been called a couch on wheels by Big Rich (the famous off roader) and that it's basically saved his off roading career in his later years (he's the sweeper on the Rebelle, for instance). So if you're looking for a little nicer "couch on wheels" for your elder years, there ya go. Get last years or a gently used model and you're not too much more than a brand new full size Bronco.

This is what I don't get with all the BD advise (not the old BD trim), you are paying 2/3 of price of the Sas package, and not getting half the package. The rear locker was a no-brainer when it was a $800, not so much when it's now $4500.
BD over BB was always 4K, you get skids, rails , decent tires, locker and lower gears.

The problem comes in when you compare a low end badlands to the BD, the price difference isn't significant at all, but the equipment delta is significant. The only options I picked for the BB were BD and Auto, for the BL only the auto. The other options are baseline. 3k on the BL gets you hoss 2.0 and a front locker which lot for the money.

Going BB + BD imo, is a poor value for the money. SAS on a BB is even worse.

Something is wrong with the payment estimator. As a $3K price difference should NOT result in a $100 extra in the monthly payment.

My Wildtrak had a payment of $905 and the $11K higher Heritage Limited that replaced it is $1065. And that's with just a 0.75% drop in interest rate.

It used to be $2665 over the BB, and you could add the locker to the BB for $800.

Hoss 2.0 only costs $1680 over the BD (which you say is a worse value than the BD), and then you say HOSS 2.0 is a value at $3k. If it's a value at $3K why would it be terrible value at $1680?

I don't see HOSS 2.0 as an option on the Big Bend, and it doesn't come with Black Diamond package. If I am missing something, please educate me. I believe you'd have to take the SAS package for 4,180. that lists the bilsteins, but doesn't specifically say HOSS 2.0, nor does it mention upgrading from the M190 up front, which we know it does.

Sas in Hoss 2.0....... The price of the Black Diamond package according to the current price and build is $4495 (which to me is an awful value), the cost of the Sasquatch package (Hoss 2.0), is an extra $1680 over the BD package.

IMO, paying an extra $1680 for 210 IFS axle, front locker, heavy duty rack, 4.7 gears, 35's, Bilsteins, rear stay bar, is a better value than the BD.

With that said, I'd still choose a Base Sas, or a BL over it.

I've never needed a rear locker for off road, probably because none of the trucks I drove had a rear locker. One would have been handy in snow a couple of times. They can be good for mud too.
Follow me and find where you need them fast.

I think you're mistaken. BD is 4,495, SAS is 4,180 for a total of 8,675. Ford's really gouging people with the BD and SAS packages. Basequatch or Badlands are really the only options imo if you are looking for capability.

My BB build with locker and auto, was 37.5K in '21, a BD was 42 and a Badlands was 47, so getting that last bit of goodie cost too much at the time
