Real interested in how a steel skid could be adapted or made to affix below to prevent gouging in the aluminum from rocks etc.

realistically. if you cut an aluminum sheet to match. add washers to match where it mounts... it'll probably work. But maybe this will inspire other companies to make their own fuel tanks.
but i was knocking around the tank to see how sturdy it felt, and the bottom definitely is reinforced.

I'd just get a sheet of 1/2" UHMW and epoxy it right on the bottom of the tank for gouge protection, Assuming that the tank is already strong enough not to dent..

I'd let the owner/ tester get it out of the box and mounted then wait for his results.

I don't think any current fuel tank skids will fit this aftermarket one.

Did ANYONE really buy their Bronco for its fuel economy? I think not.

I admit to being pleasantly surprised when I got 28 in the F-Type with the cruise set on 87 in West Texas and most of New Mexico going to Vegas. But I didn't expect that number. Just like I'm content with 23 in my Grand Marquis running at similar speeds.

If I want MPG, I'll convert an old Rabbit to run on fry oil LOL!

Actually that's one of the reasons I bought my Bronco. Leastways, compared to my other old 4x4s, the Bronco can go on long trips at high speed without eating fuel. Bonus - it has air conditioning and no rust holes.

Lol not sure where leaks would come from. I have some faith in made in China goods. I don't want to introduce any contaminants to this. The bottom plate looks pretty decent on this too

Yeah, I see what they did, just welded on an entire bottom plate to act as an integrated skid plate. Many crawlers probably need a bit extra, critically with some space between the tank and an added skid plate.

LOL when this was posted prior in this thread and still LOL now.

Do those welds look ametuer? Does any part of the tank look ametuer? With a potential fuel leak as the consequence, do you really think there is a significant chance this has a leak or wasn't leak tested?

Once you have such a tank sealed up the leak testing is simple (which I'm saying to point out that the manufacturer did this, not to instruct the owner to do it himself...). After sealing, pressurize with air and apply a mist of soapy water via a spray bottle on all welds. Leaks will be quite obvious.

will try to get this installed hopefully in the next 2 weeks, between work, and my busted golf R sitting on jackstands in my main garage. Hands are tied. I'm not snoball material, so i'm most likely not pulling this off in my driveway.
just not sure if i'll be able to get to somethings with one side of the car jacked up

That is a nice-looking piece. Looks really beefy. They have a market over there with Bronco's, so I am sure they are trying to put out good products, and what better marketing than having US-based Bronco's use the product and be happy?
