Ford could finally stop making a four-door if they brought the Everest stateside. All the people who bought four-doors who constantly complain about road noise, wind noise, harsher ride than their Honda Odyssey, etc. could move on to a vehicle with a different forum to host the constant whining. ;)

I currently own a 21 Bronco and a 23 Explorer, If the Bronco had ended up being a rebadged Everest I'd be happy. If the Everest was in addition to the current line up I would have bought it instead of the Explorer, But right now I couldn't be happier with my fleet (which also includes a F250 and Mustang) and the Everest would just split hairs and confuse the issue.

I like the spirit of the Timberline trim Explorer. But it still lacks adequate ground clearance and the larger tires are just a fraction of an inch from the wheel well......I imagine winter ice build-up would be an issue for people up north.

Like you said 'spirit of the Timberline' not much more capable than a regular, but darn they look nice.

I'll admit I've spent more time thinking about this topic in my head than I care to admit. Been trying to think of how can squeeze this into their lineup because it obviously would take sales away from Explorer (their #1 SUV) and the Bronco (something we all care about here).

SO... general questions for the crowd:
  • Would you trade in your Bronco for an Everest if it were to come stateside??
  • Would you buy an Everest if it was only available in a hybrid powertrain? Would it replace your Bronco??
  • Would you rather see the Bronco get a hybrid powertrain??
  • Would you buy an Everest if it was a slightly more luxury-oriented SUV but not quite all of the off-road capabilities of the Bronco??

At this stage in our life? NO .

Back when we were traveling with young kids? YES. The Everest would be my choice over the current unibody Explorer. We had a 98 V8 AWD Explorer, still do actually. Drove the wheels off of it and towed with it for over 300k miles.

Agreed. I recently bought a 2023 Explorer for the Cruiser/grocery getter, but would have definitely gotten the Everest if I could. We had 94, 00 and 05 Explorers all took the family jeepin, though the 05 was on three wheels alot on Imogene. Had a 13 which was pretty worthless, the 23 is a good cruiser, but bad jeep.

What's the deal with this "bi turbo" engine that makes pathetic power?

EDIT-- In case it wasn't obvious, I think it could fit into the Ford lineup here in North America if it came in as a slightly more upscale SUV with the hybrid powertrain. But the question is if people would still want it.
Late to the party, but I do like the Everest
  • Would you trade in your Bronco for an Everest if it were to come stateside?? - No
  • Would you buy an Everest if it was only available in a hybrid powertrain? Would it replace your Bronco?? - Not if I could have a Bronco
  • Would you rather see the Bronco get a hybrid powertrain?? - Yes. While I am not into hybrids, I like options. If a Hybrid keeps Broncos in production, I am for it.
  • Would you buy an Everest if it was a slightly more luxury-oriented SUV but not quite all of the off-road capabilities of the Bronco?? Hard to say. I'm not in my Bronco for either all out off-road OR for luxury. I wanted 2 doors, and I wanted a manual. I wanted 4wd, a bit better ground clearance and a little more cargo space than I had in my Mustang. I wanted better bad weather performance than the Mustang. If I were to drop 2 door and manual, I'd have more options, but those were the two big things I wanted.
I think the fear of cannibalization of sales hurts Ford in the long run. If I dropped 2 door and manual (as Ford clearly wants me to do)...I wouldn't buy an Explorer. I don't like em. I'd go straight over to the 4runner, and only because they don't make the FJ anymore. Ford relies too much on brand loyalty and not enough on filling niches. I'd very much be interested in an Everest however if Bronco was not an option. Ford needs to worry more about keeping people in a Blue Oval, and not worrying about the advertising value of selling a larger quantity of Explorers.

I wouldn't trade in a Bronco for the Everest because Bronco and Everest are two completely different products. I would add an Everest to my portfolio, preferably a diesel.
Bronco is.........Bronco. It has no equals.
The Ford Australia-designed Everest is the man's body-on-frame SUV that the Explorer isn't, and in my mind is superior to the 4Runner and others in their class.

I would not give up my Bronco for an everest either. But an Everest would not cannibalize an Explorer sale to me, but if Bronco wasn't an option it would take a 4runner sale from Toyota.
