Same technology, but not the same shocks.

Yeah, meant to say same style but I like your wording better, same technology. I'll go back and change it.

Thanks Tim.

The lives valves are the truth. The ride in my BRaptor is head n shoulders above my Badlands, and I had an aftermarket setup. Everyone who has ridden in both RIGS remarks just how much smoother the BRaptor is.

These shocks would be worth the coin if you want that type of performance.

I’d be in for this if it didn’t mean a 3.5” lift.

I hope I’m misunderstanding the whole lift thing.

nothing will compare to the ride you get, on road or off.
Beg to differ.

I have (essentially) these on my Raptor and although they are a very nice wide envelope of performance, balancing both on road with crawling and more open/high speed desert, it is this latter category where you can easily push beyond the suspensions capabilities. The truck has plenty of power and acceleration to get you in over your head quickly on a lot of fast "whoops" type terrain.

You can pretty easily exceed what the factory (these) shocks will handle with a fully passive set of external bypass shocks.

Now, just to be clear, for a factory rig, I agree, no other factory vehicle suspension touches these (i.e. a stock Raptor).

For those that may not realize it, these shocks would be the same technology as GM's Magnaride. or in other words magnetic shocks. Electricity is sent though the shocks and by using ferrofluid it changes the shocks "valving" on the fly by making the fluid thicker or thinner depending on the need. Pretty cool, been around for a while now. Looks like they finally decided to make them more of a "universal fit". It is not just a set of shocks, they need a controller as well, so pricey yeah but nothing will compare to the ride you get, on road or off.
So does the ride change with temp fluctuations? Does the ferrofluid change viscosity in this situation?

Not that I have heard of. I would think it is a fairly stable product. By the looks of @swamp2 response above maybe he has some firsthand experience with this.

Simple answer is, yes it does. But, managing the fluid viscosity change is what shock control is all about.

Fluid motion increases with an increase in temperature. Both from the ambient temperature and mechanical friction of the moving components the fluid encounters. For example, whooping creates a lot of frictional heat in shocks.

The KISS version of ferro fluids is that a magnet (in the shock piston and/or the fluid channels or ports) varies it field strength to align the suspended nanoparticles into a crystal structure, causing interference with the fluid flow motion. Like adding logs in a river, then taking them out again.

That structure manipulation changes the viscosity (speed of flow), thereby adjusting for temperature and volume change effects on the fluid.

By adjusting the magnetic field hundreds of times a second, the rate of shock arm travel can change evenly relative with the vehicle body position. That is why the sensors monitor pitch/yaw/roll, G-force, steering angle, etc. - to determine how much travel to stabilize the body position.

This is the next base level in automotive suspension. As it spreads, the price ticket will come down (relatively speaking). Passive systems are so 1970's. Think of how this changes maintenance and cost of ownership on a vehicle.

Standard tech in many CN cars costing $35K and up but with far greater suspension capabilities as seen on you tube demos.

This teck makes Ferraris livable days to day literally like driving on glass.

It's so cheap to produce now any price over $3K is just a rip off.

The price differential between my Badlands Sasquatch and the Raptor was like $20k when I bought it.

Can’t imagine spending that much money to get basically no return when I sell, as opposed to just buying the Raptor.
Exactly 💯

for that kind of money i would go with 8112 and add sdi e click with no lift. . if i wanted 3.5 lift then i would go with the fox. just putting it out there

They mention crawling several times, one of the largest obstacles for me crawling is keeping tires planted with the limited travel. There are no mention of what travel looks like for these.

You're buying the wrong vehicle is primary concern is wheel travel.... the Bronco stock compared to aftermarket is such an incremental improvement. Wow 4" more rear travel... game changer. Haha

Bronco is about balance and being able to hang tires and retain stability. It will never be the ideal rock crawler but sure is fun and entertaining

Plenty of people on this forum have found good solutions for wheel travel, I run a badlands marketed as a rock crawler. I never expect it to be a moon buggy. I do believe wanting travel numbers for an aftermarket coil over is realistic. Many of this lift coil setups actually restrict the travel that is present stock. I guess will have to agree to disagree if you think spending money on suspension mods that don't give basic specs is advisable.
FYI fox gives these numbers for all other bronco related products I have looked at.
