Update: I've be emailing morimoto every month or so to see if there was any progress and to keep them aware of the issue. Here is the timeline of what i've been told so far.

Jan-27thMorimoto acknowledged the issue and working on a fix
Feb-4thNew resistors sent
Feb-8thNew resistors received which did not fix the issue
Feb-10thWas told no new fix is being developed for
Mar-4thAsked for an update and was told
Mar-18thAsked for an update and was told
Mar-18thFollow up question of "Will they ever get back to this issue?" Response:
Apr-2ndRead a post here that they weren't going to fix the issue, so I followed up and got this response:
Apr-2ndAlso asked if a replacement would fix my issue and got
May-7thAsked for an update: (nothing changed)
July-7thAsked for an update: (nothing changed)
Aug-4thAsked to return these and was told to reach out to who I originally bought it from
Was denied a return since its been so long (understandable)
Aug-5thTold them that I cannot return them since I've been waiting for a fix, response was to have a replacement sent
Follow up question: Will this replacement fix my issue? Response:

This contradicts Apr 2nd response
Aug-5thAsked what changed to make a replacement now fixed? Response:
Aug-5thMy Response
Aug-5thThere response:

I mentioned that to them as to why they haven't heard complaints about it recently, but to no avail.

Sorry to hear about your saga. Morimoto has lost me as a customer due to the poor experience I had with them and I tell everyone I can to avoid their products too.

Have you tried messing around with Forscan settings? I recently installed Oracle taillights in place of halogens. I didn't want to use the included resistors, so instead I changed setting via Forscan.

Morimotos tech support does not have access to our open cases. It's a completely separate department from the support team dealers work with. The consumer side of Morimoto actually operates under their retail division (The Retrofit Source) whereas dealers work with another company/team. Additionally, Morimoto has no knowledge of purchases we make as we don't purchase from Morimoto. We purchase from the company that owns Morimoto (Wheel Pros). Wheel Pros acquired Morimoto a few years back and started to move inventory from Morimotos warehouses into the WheelPros distribution network. That gave us more access to products as there is a distribution center down the road from us. So any tech issues we deal with are handled under a different "company" so to speak.

In fact, the RMA's we've been handling are still moving through the network actually. Some of them go to the Wheel Pros warehouse and then have to make their way down to Morimotos main HQ so they can inspect the lights/figure out what's going on. So things are still being passed around from warehouse to warehouse. Others may go directly to the Morimoto HQ for inspection/evaluation. But it's still too early to tell what's going on.

Any customers experiencing issues that purchased from us can continue to reach out to us for a resolution.

I was about to post a thread about this, but I seems to be an ongoing issue. I bought my Morimoto tail lights back in April, submitted a warranty claim, and they essentially ghosted me.

I included a video of what the tail lights are doing, basically the drivers side rear intermittently works. I strongly believe that it is resistor related. I put the factory tail lights back on, but I am curious about the Forscan as I see a lot of people use it. I didn't think I really needed it but if it can make it to where I don't need the resistors for the tail lights I might be interested. I'll have to check it out. Did you have to do anything crazy to get it to work without the resistors? I'm a software engineer for my day job so I have a pretty high threshold for dealing with annoying software issues and get them working.

I'm glad I cam across this thread because if I never have to deal with their customer service I'll take it!

For reference, here is our email correspondence:
Hey Christopher,

Both of these lights will need to be replaced under warranty. If you don't have an account on our website, please go ahead and create one now.

In order to send replacements, we will either need to get your faulty lights back first, or have you purchase replacement lights.

If you choose to purchase the replacement, your card on file will be charged and the part will be shipped (please make sure the card is on file and up to date).

Please let me know what option you want to proceed with, and I will get that all setup for you.

DO NOT ORDER THE REPLACEMENT ON YOUR OWN

Once we receive your faulty light back, that purchase would be refunded.

Please let me know how you'd prefer to proceed with that warranty claim.

Thanks and have a great day!

Best of luck - hopefully you can find a solution. One thing to mention is that I would find something that would work for a few days then it would fail again a short time later. My theory is that it has to do with the cold startup procedure for the Bronco.

Thanks for the info. I'll take a look. Kind of funny, that is the behavior that I am experiencing with the resistors that Morimoto sent me. Glad you mentioned that because I'd be bummed to think I had it fixed and have the same thing happen again.

Interesting experience here…
I’ve been dealing with the hyper flash/driver side tail light brake/turn signal not working for a year now. It worked flawlessly in the summer but now that winters back it was doing it during cold mornings. Morimoto sent me some resistors that came in today (was told they are now 15 ohm instead of 10 ohm). Installed them and they didn’t work at all now where as my other resistors would work after about 5 mins and would work for the rest of the drive no problem. While trying to do self diagnosis I unplugged the resistor on the driver side and took a drive. Surprisingly the lights worked the entire time, no problem. I called them and the tech said that using the light with no resistor could be a viable option as long as it continues to work. Has anyone tried this? I don’t see why it wouldn’t continue to work as I’ve been told the RESISTOR being cold is what causes the hyper flash to begin with so with no resistor at all and no hyper flash there should be no hyper flash… right? let’s hope and see and would love to hear feedback if anyone has any!!
